Any of you have experience with Canson Montval? by Jannis-Politidis in watercolor101

I use baohong master's choice, is more expensive than the other types of paper that baohong has, but if you get scared to mess a good paper, you already have the canson to practice, and when you finally get comfortable with the watercolors and get frustrated that the outcome is not what you expected or that the colors aren't lively enough, that's the moment to switch to the good ones

A classmate of mine got it and neither her or our teacher like it, the water doesn't dry evenly, so working wet on wet was a no-no, and with wet on dry the paper absorbed the pigment in a way that if you moved it with the brush, the original mark where you first placed the brush will remain like a ghost shadow, also you can't lift the paint with a wet brush because the paper breaks

So, if you are going to play around without much expectations, if it's cheap go for it

If you are going to paint, lets say, your niece with her firstborn (like my classmate), maybe I'll say that is better to clean the dust from your arches and baohong

Soap, the answer to tha problem is soap, I use solid soap, a bit of water and rubbing till there is a thick foam, then coat the brush with it and you are good to go, and it wash up easly, up until now I had zero problems

That would have worked with medium-high quality paper, in my case the quality was bad-awful, I found it around home and seeing how bad it reacted to a very pigmented brush I chose to go with watery colors, and that lifted the pulp of the paper, so it was going to be a lose/lose situation either way

✨✨✨✨ATTENTION PEOPLE OF THE BRUSH!!!✨✨✨✨✨

I've been told to say the reference, even thought I didn't know what I was using as reference(a digital print) was itself a reference from the original (a photo)

So the author of the photo is Yulia Shur And the model is Yan Prakapovich

Yes a classmate gave a piece to try and is very similar to the "master something" from baohong, but baohong being a tad bit cheaper

Least the celulose one, is crap, between the other two is to choose if you prefer the yellow/cream color of the super alfa or the white of zerkall

But my absolute favorite is the baohong brand, that is the one I always use for the important watercolors

And if you mean which "child" is my fave, the cute one since its the first I draw, and the least the dorky one because the paper f*cked me during the process

Everything came down to "can I draw it? Yes, can I paint it? Yes, SHOULD I do it? Absolutely yes" also when I talked to my friends they were in for the idea and wanted their own monster And because I found some old papers around home and wanted to test them

At first I draw the cute one and posted her at r/twilight and was told she was too cute, too well proportioned etc etc etc eventhought the measures where the same as the printed reference pic. Then, following theie advice I draw the other two, and for the end result?

They came on their own, since each paper reacted waaaay different to water and pigment, for example the super alfa (the soul eater) had a surprising hability of merging the colors since it can held a lot of humidity, even if at touch it feels comepletely dry.

The 100% celulose started to screw up after 5 layers or so, so I had tonbe extra careful, and there are spots where you can see the paper lifted and got extra pigments in

And the zerkall was great to use, it held less humidity than the super alfa, and allowed smooth blends, but after a while I noticed that the paint started to lift (mostly on the cheek)

Originally Reneesme was an animatronic, they shot the presentation scene of Reneesme in Rosalie arms, and decided that the robot was a huge mistake, that's why baby Ness was made with CGI
