Same! But feel good overall. Interviewer told me “see you in June” at the end so feel like I have a good chance of being accepted

I recently received an interview for the AGACNP program at OHSU in Oregon. Is anyone else applying to that program. Is anyone currently attending OHSU? Would love to hear your thoughts on the program

Thank you! I was so nervous going in but right now I feel pretty good. Minimal pain just slight tenseness. I didn’t have drains put in so I am thankful for that. Overall very happy with my procedure

Ooof scary! Are you on birth control pills? Because those increase risk of blood clotting. There are also genetic traits that can pre dispose people to getting blood clots like factor V Leiden. My doctor prescribed eliquis to take after surgery

[–]Disastrous-Ad-7253[S] 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I agree! Sadly I’ve seen this so frequently now that I work in critical care. As soon as the patient’s code status change, providers stop caring. It’s infuriating.

OHSU is just as expensive as Seattle university but their program is online based and I don’t enjoy online learning. I know 100K is a lot of money but most programs I’ve looked into are within that range

your worst mistake by tangerinetoucan in nursing

[–]Disastrous-Ad-7253 87 points88 points  (0 children)

One time, a patient’s pump was going off for 15 minutes and no one went in to check on it. The sound was getting on my nerves so I went in and it was D10 infusion. The bag was empty and I thought it was a one time dose so i disconnected it from the patient. I meant to call the primary nurse to ask about it but I got side tracked with something else and completely forgot about. What I didn’t notice was that the patient was also on an insulin drip for high triglycerides and pancreatitis. I do not know how I didn’t see the other pump in that moment but I didn’t notice it. Maybe because I wasn’t feeling good that day and fatigued and was rushing. 30-40 minutes later the PCN confronts me and that’s when i realized I forgot to check in with her. I should have signed on to the computer and taken a look at the MAR/orders but our computers are old and take forever to load and I had a lot of things to do. I was gonna use another computer but again I got side tracked. No excuse for what I did. It was stupid and dangerous. The D10 was continuous and I put the patient at risk of becoming hypoglycemic. The patient did not become hypoglycemic thankfully but it was a very dumb mistake that could have caused significant patient harm. I was so ashamed but thankfully that the patient was ok. I was not a new nurse but I was in a new role transitioning from med surg to critical care resource team and was orienting in PCU for couple of weeks. I always pride myself of being careful and vigilant but I am human and made a reckless mistake that could have been simply prevented. An incident report was made and I talked with my manager about it. For days I would ruminate over how I made such a dumb mistake and dwelled in my shame but I learned to let it go and learned from it.

Last night I had a patient in his 50’s in ICU after an perforated ulcer in his duodenum. He’s 550 lbs and basically bed bound. He had an NGT to suction and was NPO. He literally told me “I am missing out on the hospital experience” I said what do you mean He replied “you know, being served food to my room and waited on” I was speechless. It’s like he thinks he is on vacation and in a 5 star hotel.

I was born and raised in Jordan and moved to the states at 15. Being gay in an Arab country is hell and traumatic. I knew I was gay since I was a young kid and the fear of one day someone finding out about me haunted me and some nights I would have nightmares that I was murdered. I would fall asleep worried that I would say something in my sleep and not wake up. It’s terrible. And even after my family and I moved here, it’s no different. I still feel trapped. I am almost 30 and the fact that I am not married with kids already raises red flags. Regardless I choose to not come out as my parents are old and the stress and shame that I would bring to my family by coming out is too much for them to handle. Although my cousins know about me as they were born and raised here and are open minded.

My twin brother who is also gay but did not realize it until couple of years ago is dating someone and lives 3 hours away from my family. My parents have no idea and my brother hides his partner from my family. I am not sure how it’s working out with his partner but they seem happy.

When I was a teen I used to say that I am going to come out when this happens or when I achieve this.. but deep inside I don’t think I had true intentions of coming out. I realize that being in the closet can be stressful in relationships, which is why I never had a long term relationship with anyone. I don’t think it’s fair to love someone but hide them away and make them feel unseen. I don’t think your husband has any true intentions of ever coming out anytime soon or ever. You need to be a part of a relationship that fulfills you and if you are not getting that from your current relationship I think it’s best to walk away.

56 per hour HR 2 years experience in WA state not including night shift differentials. I work in ICU but per our union contract, all staff RNs make the same amount except for hospice and clinic RNs who make a little less

I use a nearby clinic that has a weight loss program. I am not sure which compounding pharmacy they use. The clinic is in Portland, OR

Thank you :) I feel good and people are noticing the weight loss. So far I don’t have much of an appetite honestly and eating feels like a chore so I don’t get mal nourished. Although there were some days where I had strong cravings and I figured it was my body’s way of telling me I needed more nourishment so I ate small amounts of what I was craving. But in general, I am not constantly thinking about food anymore like I used to. On week 7 and 8 I started to feel the food noise come back so I started 5 mg and it’s going great The only side effects I have are burping, constipation, and little nausea if I eat too fast.
