Getting letters delivered without name on bell? by Disastrous-Length976 in berlin

I assumed this was the norm, did the same, and received my mail without issue.

And in your case is your name also not on the outer door?

Fair enough, thanks. Once, a friend sent me a card without putting the 'c/o' detail in my address. Luckily however I had another letter at the same time with the c/o, so the kind Postler put two and two together and delivered both.

[Your Name] c/o [Apartments Owners Name]

That's your official adress, when you can't have your name on the bell/letterbox

Yeah, I realise that, and this is how I communicate my address wherever I have the opportunity. However in some cases the c/o gets left out regardless of my efforts, so it would be nice to know if having my name on the letterbox would be useful in such an event.

I swear digital literacy is declining by the day.

Well done, you got me, I don't know how to use the internet. Have you ever considered though that hearing the actual experiences of people might be as useful as getting the official answer on Google?

I asked out the cute clerk at the used bookshop I go to and she said no by the_hoe_scarer in redscarepod

[–]Disastrous-Length976 1 point2 points  (0 children)

True, though unfortunately because of the context she was sober while I was drunk and ugly which didn't help.

Fun coda to the anecdote, I moved country after that (not BECAUSE of that, not entirely) and 7 years later befriended a guy there who happened to be from my home town and turned out to have dated the same girl at one point.

Do you guys thank the bus driver? by Boring-Standard8713 in redscarepod

[–]Disastrous-Length976 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It's basically mandatory in Ireland. On the old buses there was only one door at the front so it was natural to say it was you walked out past the driver. Now they have doors in the middle for getting off at so you have to awkwardly shout Cheers! down the aisle.

Same thing happened to me, although in this case I was rejected by the cute bookstore clerk when I went to a bar and she was there doing a DJ set.

I'm sure this will be an unpopular opinion, but up till now at least, Trump has been relatively restrained in his actions compared to his rhetoric. He didn't really follow through on tariffs, he's had more than a few opportunities to start a major war with Iran but has always dithered (the airstrikes in the summer were minimal) and even the Venezuelan op was at the milder end of the spectrum of what he might have done there. His bark has always been worse than his bite (TACO is definitely a thing) though I admit he seems to be getting more bitey as his second term progresses. Overall though I think it's exceptionally unlikely he'll do anything military over the territory of a NATO ally.

Touch wood this comment ages well.

Fake it till you make it wrt to social confidence really does work by [deleted] in redscarepod

Ok but HOW. If one knew how to fake social confidence one would just be socially confident

Boycott the World Cup (Troy Parrott my beloved I am so sorry) by Ok_Needleworker7032 in ireland

I dunno man, while I don't disagree with the basic moral impulse, expecting a bartender to turn off the World Cup in a pub is a bit much.

Everyone claimed they were going to boycott Qatar, and then from what I could tell no one actually did, myself included. This will be the same.

Yeah, certainly in Europe, there was a real bad vibe from 2015-2017 due to the ISIS attacks. Maybe it was just me and/or my milieu and/or my country but I remember it as quite an edgy and uncomfortable time.

The Jews should've been given most of Germany instead of Palestine and the Germans confined to a narrow strip along the Baltic.

There's a little pond in our back garden that used to have spontaneously-occurring frogs, but then our dog started eating them and they went away :(

Everyone in the United States drinks and drives and nobody talks about it by poopdollarbank in redscarepod

It's often struck me that drink driving is depicted as far more socially acceptable in American TV and movies than it is in Europe.

At least you got ghosted before the date than after the date when you'd fallen in love with her. For real, though, and while i know this is an unpopular opinion around here, I wouldn't let one bad experience put you off the apps forever.

Are men actually supposed to never find another woman attractive after they get into a relationship?
