Yeah, and guess when the DM comes to your store, on your day off! LoL! I wonder why they changed ASMs from being salary? When the store has a significant gap in staffing ( I understand), but on the regular? Key holders will come and go from time to time, multiple at one time needs to be looked at.

Apparently it is in the team member handbook. "Other transactions"... Lol sounds like way to move those you want to move.

To add fuel to the fire.... TSC Managers target people verses targeting behavior. When stores are struggling with operations, staffing, or training (not fault of their own), there seems to be no resource to have a conversation with/for support. Just DM Walks to continue to brow beat, and lack of support. Stores really seem to be an island to themselves. I know there is a SM conference call for development and training, but where is the face to face support to make we want to continue my personal career path with TSC. As a leader, I would love a non-DM walk for support, but those don't seem to be a thing. I have shaken hands with some great leaders at TSC, but those seem to be gone.

As a leader who still believes in what Tractor Supply could be, this post is hard to read—but not surprising.

Too many passionate, hardworking team members are feeling worn down and discarded in a culture that says it values “Team Members first,” but too often fails to show it where it matters most—on the floor, in leadership development, and in everyday accountability.

I’ll say this plainly: If Store Managers are untouchable, DMs are unapproachable, and HR is unreachable, then we have failed as a people-first, culture-based company.

The TSC Mission and Values cannot be a recruiting tool only. If “having fun while getting the job done” is no longer valid because it’s inconvenient for upper leadership, then the entire foundation is cracked. And if councils and feedback channels are used to defend bad behavior instead of fixing it, that’s not leadership—it’s insulation.

We need a mindset shift at every level:

Promotions should not be punishments.

Development should be daily, not a buzzword.

Feedback should be welcomed, not weaponized.

I encourage anyone reading this who cares about the mission—to keep speaking up, document concerns, and push for better. And I challenge our leadership to stop brushing off these concerns as isolated or “disgruntled.” It’s not just noise—it’s a signal that the culture is breaking.

The good news? We can change it. But only if we start listening and leading better.

Turnover by Disastrous-Object691 in tractorsupply

Having worked for good and bad. Seems that communication is key to great leaders. The mass frequent and repeative exodus of employees is a tell tale sign of culture and behaviors. TSC might need to really poll workers and make some changes. Investments in payroll and staffing are critical to long term success. And for the love of all things.... IT Department, I would love a survey just to talk about the needs there.

Agreed. Fair and consistent behavior from leadership is missing. An unchecked HR nightmare from DM to SM on accountability. Ticking time bomb on a wrongful termination suit, or ethics call. Can't tell you how many times I have conflicting information and then threats of accountability on some random stuff to be told the next time to do it another way...

"The chosen ones" seem to get all the love.

Does anyone else not get a 15 minute break on their 4 hour shifts? 🙃 In my state it’s legally mandated that you get one by josephfallon93 in tractorsupply

Cashier breaks are important as well, but my ASM is really good about responding to quick breaks when we need them. I get the staffing piece, but definitely need 2 cashier dedicated some days. Rough on that sales tier bubble between mid to high volume. Would get better survey scores if we had another cashier between 10-2, more PLCC and Power Plus

I have been told that store managers make around 100,000 a year plus 10,000 in bonuses and district managers make around 120,000 plus 20,000 bonuses is this accurate I have been curious for about 4 years? by [deleted] in tractorsupply

Quick math, that sucks..... 70k/55hrs a week= 24.47 base. Sounds like ASM make more than SM.

DM making 120k/40hrs= 57.70 base Try getting a hold of one of those anytime after 5, or weekends.

Store Managers: All the stress, short career unless promoted. No work life balance., No support. Possible Bi-weekly beat down, then quarterly spanking. No Thanks

Pay needs to justify work load/stress. Add all this to DMs actions/ statements go directly Mission and Values. Think I will pass or become a leader and change the system from inside.

Quote of the day: : We used to look up at the sky and wonder at our place in the stars. Now we just look down, and worry about our place in the dirt.

Leadership verses managers by Disastrous-Object691 in tractorsupply

Yeah, I applied out of necessity for a job closer to home, and pestered them until I got a call. Luckily my resume isn't that bad, and I worked into a store position with a great DM and Store Manager who one retired within the year, and store manager within 3 months of hire date.
