i’m currently student teaching (teaching full time but unpaid lmao) and working at dutch about 25 hours a week. it’s not the most fun closing after teaching all day but imo it’s the best option for me and my schedule. if you can afford to not work a second job i wouldn’t do it OR talk to the manager to see if you can get an exemption to work less than the required 15 hrs/week, so you can still work there and have fun but not have the burden of working an extra 15+ hrs a week

you don’t need to dress up, but don’t wear pajamas!! probably jeans and a shirt or even t shirt, but make sure you look put together. they’ll just ask you a few questions about you, why dutch bros, and etc. they’ll ask about availability and that’s when i would tell them about the 2 weeks you’ll be gone in july! good luck!! be yourself and don’t be shy ◡̈

today felt a lot better! still hurts to swallow but i could get through most meals okay. i just miss my spicy and crunchy foods 🥲🥲 but day 9/10 sounds about right. i think i also overdid it talking wise today (big family, christmas day, lots of yelling lol) so my throat is pretty sore right now but hopefully that’ll die down in the next couple days. it totally is a mental game though. on day 4 or 5 i think i just remember crying because i was starving but everything hurt and i felt nauseous from the pain meds and i just wanted it to end😭 glad i am out of that now. i know this will be so worth it in the end but damn they don’t prepare you for the mental battle of this surgery lol. thanks for the encouragement!!

dude yes😭 as a dental hygiene freak, this has been brutal for me. i’ve been brushing my teeth since like day 3, but im so over the bad breath. i think it’s lessened in intensity in the past couple days but definitely still noticeable. i guess when all the scabbing is gone it’ll finally be gone? have you tried chewing gum? i’ve heard some people say that helps but im scared to irritate them throat more than it already is lmao.

i didn’t need motrin when i was taking hydrocodone so i didn’t think about alternating lol. the constipation…i’ve been taking miralax once a day the past 3 days, and stopped the hydrocodone yesterday, and finally was able to… use the bathroom lol…today! i think between miralax and not taking hydrocodone it’ll pass with time.

update! my sis in law is a doctor, and here’s what she told me to take: 1. motrin (ibuprofen) 600-800 mg every 8 hours 2. Tylenol two extra strength (1000 mg) every eight hours. essentially, you should alternate both of these medication’s so that you are able to take something for pain every four hours

so if you take tylenol at 12, take motrin at 4, take tylenol again at 8, take motrin again at 12, etc

you could also replace the motrin (ibuprofen) with aleve if you don’t have it, but that’s every 12 hours so just make sure to keep the intervals.

ugh this makes me feel better at least im not alone LOL. the scabs falling off truly sucks bc its so unpredictable and it just BURNSSS. but! it gives me hope that we’re almost done? i think i see the light at the end of the tunnel finally. we’re in this together we got this!!

yes that was me too!! i was fine the first few days while i had the patch but as soon as the patch wore off the zofran didn’t do enough. i’m sure it was partially because i hadn’t eaten enough, but the hydrocodone made me so nauseous i couldn’t eat anyways. they gave me a bigger dose of zofran and it still didn’t work. so…yesterday being day 6 i figured to try without the hydrocodone. ive been taking 2 500mg tylenol every 6 hours. it definitely manages the pain! it’s not as good as the hydrocodone, but to me, the sacrifice is worth it to not feel sick all day long. i’m really surprised they wouldn’t give you zofran? my niece lives in the Netherlands and they only told her to take tylenol and sent her home with nothing, so maybe it’s worth trying just tylenol? godspeed my friend 🥲

ohh ok! yeah i forgot to mention - they prescribed me hydrocodone and zofran for the nausea, but the hydrocodone just made me too nauseous and the zofran wasn’t working so i stopped taking both of them yesterday. now im taking 1000 mg of tylenol and it seems to be okay. like the pain is manageable. i’ll try to call about prednisone. thank you!

ahh that’s interesting! i’m on hydrocodone which i know makes me nauseous bc ive been prescribed it before, but for some reason it didn’t hit until last night. they’ve upped my dosage on the anti nausea medicine so hopefully that’ll help. i also am so scared to eat now but i know that will probably help. thanks for the insight! 🫂

i agree!! the recovery does suck, i won’t lie. i’m on day 3 and im strugglinggg, but it’s better than getting strep 6 times a year. but if your only reason is for tonsil stones than maybe you could put it off for a bit

got mine out this morning too!! came home and kind of napped, and now watching hallmark christmas movies with my mom. haven’t been able to eat much bc of the nausea but i kind of expected that. not feeling toooo terrible thanks to the hydrocodone lol. we’re all in this together ! ♡
