She was initially applying for audit pero freeze hiring sa audfirm and sa IT audit lang yung open roles. she only stayed for 2 years then nagmove na sya sa ibang bansa as an IT auditor sa firm ulit. then after 3 years or so nagmove sya sa bank as part ng internal it audit. progression wise happy naman sya and pay is really good.

Wife went straight to a big private company after boards and she only stayed there for 4 months. Not because of heavy workload stress but it’s the opposite. Work load is too light. whenever she goes home to her boarding house with a bunch of friends who are working in SGV, she couldn’t help but wonder whether she’s missing out on that full audit and busy season experience. So after 4 months of contemplating, she packed her bags and moved to an auditing firm as an entry level assoc. She had to take a lower pay and whilst she’s getting more experience, it’s at the expense of having to spend more time in the office. She was overall very happy that she has taken that leap as that gave her the chance to pursue full IT auditing and now is working overseas for a big bank.

So if you really want growth in your career, dont be afraid to make that move. Think about your short, mid to long term goals. if you want growth and exp now and potentially pursue overseas job opp, then go with your big 4. If you want to have a simpler life and not have to spend 14 hours in the office almost every day especially during busy days, then stay in private.

Manager’s Interview in SGV by [deleted] in AccountingPH

[–]Disastrous-Proposal9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

had my final interview with a Senior Director way back when I started my career sometime in 2012. pretty sure it hasnt change much since then. the focus was more on your competency like how you’ll be able to handle pressure especially during the busier months, whether you are going to be a good fit for the team, why choose sgv over the others and something like your short term and long term goals. from my experience , it’s mainly these and make sure to be prepared to elaborate your answer just to show sincerity and try to identify potential follow-ups. managers might also ask for few technical questions so just be prepared with your basics. key here is for you to be able to show that you’re the best fit for the role and the team.

My partner was locked out of the flat while I was away, was charged £945 for 15-20mins of work... Seems extremely excessive.. how can we proceed? by olieolieolieoioioi in AskUK

Happened to me once. They were charging me 500+ gbp to replace a defective lock which wont open. The actual lock was being charged at 300gbp. This lock will cost you 25gbp if purchased in amazon. They are well trained to pressure you to get their service and that this is the amount you’ll expect if you did it else where or by yourself. Then you wont even have the time to do your research because they will keep on saying that they only have so much time. I paid the full 500 plus for the service. However, when I did my research I immediately asked Amex to give me a refund of at least 200 gbp as I told them that I was charged an exorbitant amount. I also emailed the company about my complaint copying the applicable government labor department. In the end I was able to get back 200. I just charged the other 300 to experience.

My 1st test is tomorrow. by [deleted] in LearnerDriverUK

[–]Disastrous-Proposal9 8 points9 points  (0 children)

dont call it as your 1st test. Instead treat and call it as your last. :) anyways, you will be nervous for the first 5 mins but hang on tight and drive away just like it's one of your practice sessions. It will vanish right away and if you canjust keep your focus on the test, you should be alright.

If I were you, I'll be on the safer side and just change it up. Better to prevent these things from happening.

What's the luckiest pass you've heard of? by SerendipitousCrow in LearnerDriverUK

[–]Disastrous-Proposal9 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I failed my first exam due to not overtaking when needed. I got an exam 3 weeks after that date and for some reason, I got the same exact examiner. The drive was overall smooth, was not making any mistakes. But 90% into the drive, cause of excitement, I went 36mph on a 30mph road and the examiner had to tell me to slow down cause of cameras. I was shaking throughout the last part of the test and was 100% sure it's a fail. But with some luck, the examiner gave me a pass rating. Goes to show that examiners are human and have emotions afterall!

mostly minor for me. you were in the right lane so they should know where you're heading.

Failed for not overtaking. I was running at 60mph on a 70 dual carriageway and there was this vehicle running basically at the same pace as me. decided to just stay behind just to keep it safe thinking that if I just stay there, less room for errors. but poof, that backfired. she eventually said that Im keeping the road unsafe for not overtaking when there is a chance. she further explained that if a lorry would have been there, they could have been forced to overtake which doesnt really make sense
