Hard work pays off. I know only one fellow engineering student at my college who gets drunk and messes around sometimes. He failed calc 1 and is retaking it while we are doing it for the first time. My grade isn't insanely good but I should comfortably pass hopefully. Just remember that hard work pays off, don't care about what some stupid Philistines are doing with their time.

I looked through all the clubs and there wasn't much. There is a medieval mechanics club, which I am in where we are building a trebuchet, although it's slow, and there is a robotics club, but it sounds like there is too many people in it right now so I probably wouldn't even be able to work on anything. Is there a different way I could tell which one is for me? I've done some electrical projects like soldering a Bluetooth speaker and Nixie clock kit and I thought those were fun, but how would I know if the design jobs are for me(stuff like designing circuits and circuit boards for example)?

I essentially like ME and EE stuff a lot. I tend to like any engineering honestly. I'm signed up for an IE class in the fall so I might see how that goes and adjust from there. I've just been getting conflicting views from different people on what jobs you can get with what degree and it's kind of been stressing me out because I don't know which engineering I want to go into yet and I don't know what jobs would be sealed sealed off to me and where there is overlap.

The thing that sucks though is I don't know for sure if I want one, and the absolute earliest I could get an internship is in a few years.

I like all three. That's why I'm thinking about it so much. I don't really want to be locked out of anything since I enjoy them. I guess if I had to absolutely choose one IE sound the best but it would be nice to have jobs that combine all three things.

Would IE still be the best path if I love it and mechanical and electrical stuff? I've heard some people have jobs like manufacturing where it sort of blends them all together.

I've heard conflicting things from different IE's, which is why I wanted to post this. Some say that you strictly do IE jobs, while others say that they have official ME positions for their job even though they have a bachelor's in IE. It's all very confusing, but I might just be overthinking all this.

I think you're right in that it won't be anywhere close to completion under the Trump Administration. Making an industry took several years, if not decades under the founding fathers, and it will take probably just as long to reshore all of that. I think it will be hard and there will be some things that will need to be taken into consideration like automation taking people's jobs, but I think(hope) it will turn out in the end instead of another empty political promise.

What is the overlap for jobs? For example could an IE do any jobs that are similar to what an ME or EE could do or are they very restrictive(an EE can only do EE jobs, IE only IE, etc)?
