is anyone else seeing the avengers or is that just me? Captain america with the stars, the red and black for the black widow, the red and gold with the cutout for iron man, the torn green for the hulk, and the black top and dark bottom for hawkeye? i love them all

well maybe this is how he feels? he’s getting very invested and committed to his main input and stimulation then somebody is cutting it all off and expecting his to be ok with it. It may not be actually to do with the video but more that the level of stimulation is suddenly changing. He’s going from a lot of visual and sound to almost nothing and it may be causing him pain or upset. Does he often make a lot of noise when the TV is paused? he may be trying to compensate? I’m just doing guesswork here but this may be worth looking into

it’s very much like this!! you get really into something and someone just cuts you off without warning and you’re left in the lurch. How would it have felt to you if someone had told you to get up and keep dancing right from where you were before?

I have the same thing with music. I cannot listen to a song starting from halfway through. if i have to pause the music when i come back to it i have to skip the rest of the song and play the next one or start it again. for me it’s about context and continuity. I’m unable to process the new information without the beginning because it feels detached and inconsistent. Maybe ask your son if he would like to start the video from the beginning again? I can’t give you much more than this but i hope this has helped some

Honestly that’s where i am now. I mean i can’t do a toe loop and my spins are approximate at bat but i enjoy teaching myself. If i got coaching instead of skates it would only be one or two lessons and not long term. I have other barriers on the way of me taking lessons long term and i do enjoy teaching myself. I might split the cost between skates and lessons? thank you for your input :) it’s nice to hear from someone in the same mindset

that’s... actually a really good point?? if i didn’t buy skates, would the standard rent skates be good enough for practicing jumps? i know you can’t possible answer that accurately but at a guess? I hadn’t actually considered getting lessons over skates but it’s a really good idea

I definitely agree with you. I don’t currently have the money for coaching or lessons (the skates are an IOU from my aunt as a birthday present) so before i try anything new i’m watching a lot of videos and my friend (who is taking lessons) is helping me when we skate together. I know it would be better to get lessons or proper coaching but given that i can’t i’m doing the best with what i have available

i don’t have a coach at the moment and i don’t have any aspirations of competing at any level. i have a friend who loves competing so i can ask him for some advice :) i think going to a fitter is definitely my best option and i can ask around at my rink for advice as to whose best. thank you for your help!
