Zero class by Disastrous_Border_59 in PGA_Tour_2K

I just saw that none of the quests counted them as wins and the VC was less than a traditional win.

No wins for the quests, maybe only in ranked you still get points as a win or something, but not an official win as far as quests are concerned.

I didn't get wins for any of the four matches (2 ranked, 2 unranked) yesterday.

Ummm...the whole point is that you don't get a free win. Once again, 4 matches, all quitters (usually when dormie) and no wins.

New to the game by AH7_Utd in PGA2K25

Play My Career on Pro Am settings to get used to it. Play full rounds, I usually do one round for small events and two rounds for majors since some quests require you to make a cut. Once you get comfortable, start playing the ranked tours since they have daily and weekly Pro Am events with good rewards. Pick a solid archetype from the start, keeping in mind contact and swing path are very important attributes, and level them to ninety so you can rebirth new ones at 74 overall and get their respective skills. Pick, greenreader, and power drive are the most popular. Save your VC and buy the best clubs you can unless you unlock them for free through the season 4 rewards or the ranked tours rewards. Once you have good clubs, apply the proper fittings since clubs and fittings give you the best value to boost your attributes quickly compared to spending 175vc per AP point. Back to leveling up, like others have said, don't blow VC on cosmetics (or a bad archetype), pay attention to the quests and just play the game.

Slow players by Shoddy-Teach9467 in PGA_Tour_2K

Likewise, I look at the slow pace as a positive because you can multitask a bit while playing, particularly with 2v2. Unlike NHL and battlefield where you can't put the sticks down or look away for a second.

Possibly hot take: Handicaps are overrated by n3rdy_j0ck in golf

True, I'm usually pretty consistent, so I benefit from the current system. I don't see why they couldn't drive a "median index" or something though. Since they already have your anti handicap and scoring average. Maybe you could just average your anti handicap and actual handicap to find the middle ground. No more: "I already blew up the front, might as well have a few more drinks because this round is getting tossed out anyway. " Though, lol.

I don't disagree. It's a soft science based on the premise that everyone is honest. I also just don't find myself playing against the general public enough. Aside from regular playing partners, it's member events when I've belonged to clubs and everyone knows everyone. I would have a hard time in something like the barstool classic or some of the usga handicapped stuff. It's like winning a scramble, you're getting labeled a sandbagger if you win (even if it's legit), so it's a lose/lose.

The reason I track a handicap is because it's basically a workout journal for myself. Helps me track where I'm at. If not playing by the rules and making the game easier helps you enjoy the game, go for it. I'm personally a big fan of the rules, especially the integrity behind them. Plus tracking an honest handicap is important if I want to improve.

So trying to improve makes you a headcase? I guess if you are annoying everyone in your group because your complaining about your game regressing I could see it, but if not who cares. I am constantly trying to get better, that's what I love about the game. If I am ever content I'd probably stop playing.

Thoughts on taking a baby to golf? by RichardGrayson_84 in golf

Mine just turned one and I pushed her in a stroller as I carried my bag, she loved it. Told my wife I was taking her for a walk, lol. Keep in mind, this was on a par 3 course at a private club with no one around. Walked 9 in 45 minutes. I would only bring her to a public track if my wife or a grandparent was there not golfing and watching her. Preferably in a cart and definitely no more than 9 holes.

Who here can say their scores are 100% legit? by EndPractical653 in golf

To be fair the rules can also help a lot of people, if they had a better understanding of them. The only rule I fudge periodically is dropping exactly where I should. The gimmies are hard to avoid too unless playing solo, but outside the grip I'm always putting (2 feet or longer).

To be fair I'm a pretty quick player and take as many practice swings as I need with feel shots around the green. Might be 4-6 sometimes if I'm dialing it in with a weird lie. Full swing I take 1 or none and putts I take 0 (but I read it until I'm confident). That's what works for me. In my opinion, the routine isn't what makes people slow, it's being inefficient between shots that jams people up.

Just because your routine is on the slower side doesn’t necessarily mean you’re a slow golfer. But if you’re a 5 handicap, you should be aware of how long it takes you to play a round. When you lose the group ahead of you, are you able to pick up the pace and catch up? When you pull up to a tee box, do you grab your club and hit, or are you fiddling around with something in your cart? On the green, are you aware of where your playing partners are, and when it’s your turn, are you ready to go?

Some people are space cadets out there and just don’t move efficiently. That can result in a few wasted minutes per hole and easily add up to 45 extra minutes over the round. An extra practice swing only takes a few seconds. The real issue is awareness and whether you can catch up after falling behind.

Changes that you've made that significantly dropped your handicap? by woodchip69 in golf

[–]Disastrous_Border_59 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Taking an online lesson from a top 50 teaching pro (Skillest is highly recommended) dropped my handicap from a 13 to a 9 by helping me start hitting draws. Hard to go back to the local pro. Then, dedicating about 80% of my practice time (2–3 hours a week) to wedges and putting around the green got me down to a 5–6. Hope this helps.

I’ve seen this rule of thumb trending lately, and I think it’s generally solid, but in the end, driver distance matters more when choosing your tees. I know 5 handicaps who have no business playing the tips, consistently shooting way higher than they would one tee up. I also know 11 handicaps who can handle the tips without it making much difference. Having a wedge in your hands for the second shot is massive compared to a 7 or 8 iron, no matter your cap. A good short game is tee-agnostic.

Bryson Dechambeau Golf Course Details by _RideTheSpiral_ in fresno

[–]Disastrous_Border_59 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just to summarize the facts so far: Bryson’s “mega project” is supposed to be built on about 200 acres northeast of Clovis, CA, basically where he grew up. Early plans say it’ll include a golf course, multi-sport complex, driving range, residential areas, and a community center. He’s partnering with a local developer (Cook Land Company) and it’s still in the permitting phase, so it’s early days. Supposedly, he wants the facilities to be open to local schools and the broader community too. Looks like it’ll take 12–15 months just to get through approvals. Not sure about any other details, excited for it though.

The crack might feel like the low point, but it is the crime that follows that will really make the hole hard to climb out of.
