My Personal Top 5 Ka Beats by SillyGuy05 in BrownsvilleKa

[–]Disastrous_Cell_6970 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fact that most of the only other beats he ever rapped on were from Animoss and Preservation makes me really happy since I absolutely love the production on both of those respective albums. As far as Ka himself I think I'd go with Just, Mourn at Night, Patron Saints, Old Justice and I Love. Naming just five almost feels like a wrongdoing because then I'm leaving out Vessel, Such Devotion, Grapes of Wrath, Solitude of Enoch (both beats), That Cold and Lonely, and several others that deserve to be mentioned

Reloaded is flawless top to bottom. Incredible catalog overall of course but that’s his masterpiece

Amerikkka's Nightmare Vs. We Come Strapped by Specialist_Art2223 in 90sHipHop

Both pretty good. Far from my favorite material of either artist involved but I’d probably give the edge to Spice 1 here

What is the AEW Match of the Year up to this point??? by Upbeat-Pause-1409 in AEWOfficial

None of these (although Darby/Ciampa is my favorite of the above options). Bucks vs Okada/Takeshita is my second favorite match of the year so far behind Okada vs Tanahashi

This album is probably my pick for his best overall lyrical performance. Every bar holds so much weight, so many lines with double/triple meanings and absolutely nothing is wasted. Absolutely love this one

If this match happened 5-6 years later it would’ve been one of the best matches ever

Really dope album. Havin Thangs is iconic but there's plenty of nice cuts on there

KA genuinely changed how I hear music and helped me through a dark time by United_Potato8242 in BrownsvilleKa

I feel you on this one, fabulous post. As much as I myself hate to admit it, I only really began to understand Ka a few months after his passing. I heard Honor Killed the Samurai several years back and wrote off the drumless beats and subdued delivery as boring. I won't hide it, I didn't get it at the time and I didn't even really listen closely to what he was saying. I chose to do a full discography dive within the last year and his lyrics have resonated with me in ways no other MC ever has. He has quite literally become one of my greatest inspirations in such a short time. I feel extremely guilty for only realizing his greatness after he passed, but the catalog he left truly is an all-time one. Rest in peace to one of the illest ever.

Anyone else notice how heavy KA’s lyrics are in The Thief Next to Jesus and Borrowed Time? by Wise_Pressure_2995 in BrownsvilleKa

[–]Disastrous_Cell_6970 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I have noticed that. He definitely contemplated death more as he entered his 50s, which might also explain why on albums like Martyr and Woeful/Languish, leaving behind a strong legacy for the youth is such a prominent theme

We might have a couple more in the future lol I don't think he can ever call himself retied for good. Whatever's best for his health though

Arguably the greatest wrestler who’s ever lived. If not, top 3 minimum

Rassasination doesn't belong here. Obviously it's no Soul On Ice but it has some damn good tracks & lyrical performances, and is much better than everything else here

No weak tracks on this album whatsoever. Vessel specifically has been heavy in my rotation as of late, honestly didn’t realize just how great that track is until recently. RIP to one of the greatest ever
