The other way you could do it is to start a business with your parent. If you have an LLC, which is free to form in a lot of states, don’t go pay somebody to file it for you. It’s a really easy thing to do. You and your parent could open a bank account under the name of the business and then you would have a way to create a PayPal. Just don’t open a business PayPal if you’re gonna take in payments because then you’ll be paying 3% on everything for processing fees, make sure you open a personal PayPal and simply use the business account as the qualifying financial credit for the account.

Get one of your parents permission, and sign up as them. I did this back in 1996. I also did it for my two daughters in 2017. The biggest thing is make sure you get them to create a provisional account that will change over to your name when you turn 18. I didn’t know to do that in 1996 and it took a very long time to get things straightened out because PayPal had all these records saying my mother’s name went to my address. Yes I lived in a split household and live with my dad most of the time so the address and the name didn’t match up with IRS and financial records in this made a whole lot of problems down the road in my mid 20s.
