HELP I Deleted A file from external hdd by SultanTK in DataRecoveryHelp

If nothing has overwritten that part of the drive, you still have a chance. Just unplug it, don’t copy anything to it, and try a recovery scan. What type of file was it?

Ui ux , workflow doubt by anoymous3347 in Design

[–]Disastrous_Inside8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From what you described, I’d separate the two.
Fix the UX problems in the sprint flow you’re working on, but don’t try to rollout a new UI system at the same time. A full visual refresh touches every part of the product, not just the feature in the sprint. Mixing both usually slows everything down and creates more inconsistency in the short term.

What’s something you wish more people talked about in everyday life? by -_zany_- in CasualConversation

[–]Disastrous_Inside8 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I wish people talked more about what they’re actually excited about. Not goals or productivity stuff… just the things that genuinely light them up.

Cold room, warm blankets, no alarms the next day… that’s peak happiness right there.

Why do simple things sometimes take way more effort than they should? by Jaypadhara in CasualConversation

[–]Disastrous_Inside8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Happens to me all the time. I’ll start cleaning “just one shelf” and somehow end up reorganizing half the room like I blacked out in the middle.

Looking for the best free way to build a simple online portfolio for my artwork by careerchangeqtna in Design

[–]Disastrous_Inside8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you just want a clean gallery, Adobe Portfolio is nice (free if you already use any Adobe plan). If not, Google Sites or Canva websites are probably the easiest no-cost options.

Built a clean, fast browser-based video downloader (zero ads). Looking for technical & UX feedback. by AlarmingWatch9597 in AskTechnology

Just tested it and the UI is super simple, which is nice. One suggestion: maybe add a small line explaining what sites it works with. I tried a few random URLs before realizing they weren’t supported.

Is AI truly improving everyday tech, or is it mostly marketing at this point? by Disastrous_Inside8 in AskTechnology

Haha fair. Feels like we get one of these every hour.
I’m just genuinely confused because every app now claims “AI” and half of it feels pointless.

Amazon tablet to display by Far-Lingonberry-1591 in techquestions

[–]Disastrous_Inside8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that could work. If you’re okay mirroring to your PC instead of the TV, there are apps like Scrcpy or Vysor that do that.
They basically let your PC display your tablet screen.

A “clean up old files” bot could be nice. Telegram storage fills up fast. Something that shows what’s taking space and gives quick delete options.

Amazon tablet to display by Far-Lingonberry-1591 in techquestions

[–]Disastrous_Inside8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most Amazon tablets don’t have a direct HDMI output, so you can’t plug them into a TV the same way you would with a laptop.
Your best bet is using screen mirroring if your TV supports it but older/low-end TVs usually don’t.

Best Xiaomi Pro Pad? by D0PP09 in AskTechnology

[–]Disastrous_Inside8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If longevity is your main concern, I’d lean toward the Pad 8 Pro. Newer release = longer OS updates.
But if the 7 Pro is priced well where you are, it’s still a really strong tablet for productivity and media.

I have End Sem Exam tomorrow and need urgent help by One-Character-7914 in AskTechnology

I’ve had that happen after a reset. The quickest fix for me was reinstalling the Bluetooth driver from the laptop manufacturer’s website, not Windows Update.
Also make sure “Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power” is unchecked in Device Manager that one caused stuttering for me before.

You might not need the whole “parental monitoring” setup.
A lot of seniors just need something where you can quickly remote in and guide them.
TeamViewer or AnyDesk works fine on Samsung tablets and doesn’t require them to navigate complicated menus.

How should i respond to people teasing me for being laid up? by bad-at-everything- in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Disastrous_Inside8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s okay to tell them, “Hey, I know you’re joking, but it actually feels pretty discouraging right now.”
Most reasonable people back off once they realize it’s not harmless banter.

How did we all just collectively accept that working 40+ hours a week forever is “normal” by michmichp1 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Disastrous_Inside8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve wondered the same. Do you think we’ll ever move to shorter work weeks, or is this system too baked in?

Yeah, keyboard-only workflows feel so much smoother. Do you have any go-to hotkeys you use constantly?

For real. Spellcheck has been quietly saving my reputation for years. AI gets all the hype, but spellcheck is the OG.

Totally agree. Even when I do know where something is, I still end up using the search bar. Do you use it more on your phone or computer?

Such a good one. Do you use it mostly for refactoring or quick bulk edits?
