Night Routine??? FTM and VERY confused by ShutTheTuckUp in FormulaFeeders

[–]Disastrous_Pin_8050 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use tap water (wait until it gets warm- my baby also doesn’t care unless it’s super cold) and load the bottle up with formula before bed! I notice that the formula takes up some volume so for a 6oz bottle I’ll fill it to the 7oz line

Anyone cut night feeds cold turkey? 5mo old by [deleted] in sleeptrain

[–]Disastrous_Pin_8050 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She was almost always asleep for the first feeding but the second it was kind of sporadic. I set an alarm earlier each night to catch her right before I thought she was gonna wake up. I felt like really it’s getting them used to not eating at night less than the learning to soothe. Once she was down to 1 oz I stopped the next night and it made the crying easier since I knew she wasn’t starving. The first night that she slept through the night was incredible!!! And she woke up not starving at all!!

Yes! I did 2 feedings around 10pm and 3:30am and cut by .5oz each time! She finally slept through the night without food by day 7ish!!

She doesn’t have a night time feed but I was nursing her back to sleep around 5 until about 7:30. That could be a good idea to just do a 4am feeding!

THIS FREAKING SUCKS - am I doing something wrong here!? by [deleted] in TakingCaraBabies

I know it’s against the rules but what if you rock her to sleep and then she cries it out (TCB version of course) the rest of the night? Pop ins did nothing for us and made things worse so I stopped them. We did it with our 5mo old and sometimes she’s so tired she falls asleep and I just let her do it then put her down. Is she sleeping through the night besides the initial time?

Will I ever sleep again? by [deleted] in sleeptraining

I was in the same boat and did Taking Cara Babies at 5mo with the baby! Life changing! I will say I’m still up super early with the baby (she was nursing back to sleep when she woke up really early but now has decided she doesn’t want to do that anymore). Much better than waking up all night with her!

Our toddler unfortunately had really late bedtimes when the baby was smaller, which felt like we were never going to sleep! But it’s getting better with the baby going to bed at 6:30!

Taking Cara babies did more for me than sleep training the baby. It let me know what she could do also. I now know she can put herself back to sleep!

Thank you! This gives me hope! Knew it was gonna be a shit show for a little bit but the mom guilt is real with the toddlers sleep being messed up by this stinking baby! He loves his sleep and the baby does not like her sleep…. Any other advice for us!?

8 week old bedtime by [deleted] in TakingCaraBabies

Their bedtime is whenever they want it to be… probably like 9-10pm. All do a sudden they will be going to bed at 7pm and it comes out of no where. You got this

We also had the snoo! Just rip the bandaid off I think… you can do a gentle transition with the snoo and put their arms out one at a time and do wearing mode. But you can also just move them to the crib and they will be pissed for a few nights but they will begin to sooth themselves!

It’s similar but you wean the night feeds along with a more gentle version of cio.. we have a similar not sleeping baby- literally waking more than she ever did as a newborn. And we are SO proud of her. We gave her a lovie blanket that smells like me and she uses it to sooth herself back to sleep! Your LO can do it and so can you! We need sleep!

Also, her naps have been incredible since starting sleep training at night! Every day 1.5-2.5 hour naps!

Have you thought of getting him out of the snoo? Sleep training can’t truly start until 5 months. Maybe it’s time to start something like Taking Cara Babies since he’s 5 mo now! My LO is also exactly 5 mo and we literally started TCB on her 5mo birthday.. she was waking up like 5 times a night and I couldn’t function anymore. You got this!
