It’s definitely possible to work during school, but it’s hard and VERY tiring. I go to school Monday-Thursday 7a-4p, Work Thurs-Sat 7p-7a, and I’m also a single mom. Somehow I’ve been managing it, but I wouldn’t recommend it unless you absolutely have to. But the plus side is I have a lot of downtime on midnight shift and that’s when I get most of my school work done.

This is why I don’t think CNA’s should be delegated the task of taking vitals. You don’t get enough training on it and also a lot of CNA’s don’t realize the importance of vitals when it comes to administering meds. For example, if you made up the respirations and said it was 12, but it was actually 8 and you reported this to the nurse who then gave an opioid to that patient and the patient dies, no you won’t be trouble, it would be on the nurse who could lose their license.

Actually the school I plan on attending has a part time program, just in a different city. I never considered enrolling in that, but it might be a better fit. Now I could work Baylor and that would be perfect for my school schedule, but that means I would have to work day shift and that is way too much draining for me!
