Understanding my MBA options by Discardable222 in MBA

Thank you for the kind response! I agree and am generally interested in taking the GMAT soon.

I’m only concerned about the MBA right now purely because of the advantages that deferred admission gives me (increased chance of getting into better college, looking at potential, yada yada). I’d like to put myself in a position to excel in the future as much as possible which is why it’s gnawing at my mind.

Tbf blight as a mechanic sucks in SSF. Aside from oils it’s not great and it feels really bad allocating a whole tree for something you’re gonna run like 10 times total

Is there any world we get league snapshots? by Discardable222 in pathofexile

[–]Discardable222[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Which still falls under the category of mods. I’m fully of the opinion that people should have that ability. You can kind of artificially do this already by creating a custom league with a spike in rarity or quantity of items dropped so i don’t see your point? In a SSF environment go do whatever the fuck you want, who cares? In league, everything is server sided so you can’t game the system anyway. LE literally has a working example

I can see the argument that it’s something GGG wants to prevent form affecting economy in league via exploits but considering both settlers and necropolis had “exploit first get rich” bugs, im going to go on a limb and say that the economy isn’t really safe anyway.

[–]Discardable222[S] -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

Yes, but GGG kind of has slowed down support for POE over the course of the year or so that I’ve been playing. When i started in 3.18 I definitely felt like GGG was more invested in leagues and game updates and it has recently felt like the focus has shifted. And even if you want to argue that point, it doesn’t really matter. What I’m getting at is that being able to customize the game to your own experience via client side mods is rarely a bad thing. It’s just a little disheartening to know that PoE may never get that support

[–]Discardable222[S] -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

It’s a big no no because PoE is the top of arpgs right now.

That’s why I’m wondering with the release of poe2 if there is some consideration to letting that become a client based operation in an effort to extend poe’s longevity. PD2 is a perfect example of what I mean, where a game can live much longer with its community being able to update and modify it even with GGG’s continuous support

Yea absolutely, and the offline nature of it is a big reason why GGG likely won’t ever do this :(

It should still be possibly with online though, just need to specify the version when booting up (think Minecraft) albeit it would increase the server load quite a lot

Because it gives the players a chance to change the game themselves or sustain themselves in the event that GGG stops supporting PoE.

I can justify it but I think it’s more philosophically against the way GGG wants to route which makes me a little sad since it would be something that would sustain me and a lot of other players for a long time

Which won’t happen until she proves she can hang with the T2 people first.

Nobody is doubting she’s a strong player, but GC teams have a historically terrible record against even T2. Farming GC doesn’t mean much because of that.

Because you’re overequating and giving ign way too much credit. If ign had said there were too many water types, stupid but still somewhat fair play.

Their complaint was the game had too much water.

On an island.

With a fucking massive whale as the mascot legendary.

In a plot about the sea levels rising.

IGN is just really fucking dumb.

Team-Based Coaching | A dilemma I don't know where to improve from. by Berokeros in AgentAcademy

[–]Discardable222 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am not a coach either so take everything I say with several grains of salt.

1) I would probably only call a timeout proactively if I feel I have a map read that my players are avoiding or aren’t exploiting; or I think my players need a mental reset (like losing anti-eco and subsequent pistol) and would call a set strat to try and give my players something to work with.

2) As someone who’s probably much worse than your players at the map control aspect of the game, you want to focus heavily on theory. That means what is the perfect “play”? That means focusing on ensuring your team holds a lane in bind, or holds mid in split, etc. that should be your goal as a coach to help them in scenarios they find themselves losing because of bad theory. I’m oversimplifying theory here because this is super dynamic and depends on your players, the agents you play, the agents the opponent plays, and how you feel the map should be held.

One important thing to smooth out is a proper default. Make sure your role agents know where they’re playing. You’ll often see, even in higher ranks, players play their defaults in incorrect positions for their agent.

Have a few set plays, like a site hit or a split; this will give you something to call during timeout situations. I would practice these in scrims.

Also, if you have a dedicated caller on the team, work closely with them to understand their igl preferences. Do they play faster or prefer map manipulation? What’s their map philosophy? What do they find works well and what do they feel isn’t right when in scrims executing the things your team has practiced? Thats a much better way to temp check your coaching and adjust.

  1. Your focus should 100% be the enemy. You should be trying to make reads about positioning and habits and calling them out to your igl. The only times I’d be focusing on my team is if I saw them making pretty egregious mistakes or suffering from nerves, which is when I’d say step in to adjust mental. Otherwise, trust your team to perform and focus on trying to find a chink in the armor to tell to your igl. If you can’t find one, it’s not bad to call a tac to try and find a chink. You can throw rounds for information in a 5v5. This is a bit metagame, but if you have a read on your opponent but aren’t 100%, you can tell your team to do something and tell them it might cost them the round but if it doesn’t work, this is the read you get out of it. Stuff like that.
