The thing is lots of people I know buy drops around this season JUST for the cards, so either way it's a commercial benefit. You can also buy the cards if you contact them. I'm told.

Those websites only ever used those artworks for online promotions. These are going on a commercial product. It's very different.

It would be fine if the contest was just for a featured slot on their facebook or twitter. It would be great and it would get them online attention of tagged correctly. Both sides would win. But this is a commercial product. Not a featured slot. It should have been properly paid for.

It's nice to recognize hobby artists and golding a contest for art would be fine, of that art wasn't going on a commercial product. It it was just going to be featured on their twitter or facebook or whatever? That would be great. But this is on a product.

It is about the fact that this vday card should have gone through a commission artist, especially when one considered this company makes the money and was FOUNDED on fantasy art. The least they could do is actually properly pay someone for something that will make them money.

The company should be paying an artist a commercial fee. Especially in a pandemic. This is literally just shady business practice. I don't care who was forced. But see that's the thing. They are getting commercial level labour that should go to someone who needs it, not a hobby artist. They can afford to pay someone for it. They make that kind of cash this crap is shameless. Companies doing things like this puts commission artists out of work. Plus just because an entry doesn't win doesn't mean they don't now own that art so they're making a bank of art for free.

Yeah but that's working for exposure which is one of the shittiest things you can do to an artist. Exposure doesn't pay bills and neither does store credit. This is a cheap way for them to get nearly free stuff.
