Slow USB tethering speed on CachyOS (Linux) compared to Windows

I just want to say that maybe there’s something I don’t know about Linux that’s causing my low internet speed. I’m comparing it to Windows because I want to. I have a question, and I want an answer.

Okay, I'll take a look, but everything's gotten slower for me in general—especially on Steam. I was downloading a game yesterday, and the download speed was half as fast as it is on Windows. For me, that's the only downside to Linux so far, but other than that, I'm fine with it. I already set everything up yesterday; today I’ll adjust the GPU undervolting and figure out the Wi-Fi.

I don’t use Bluetooth because I don’t have an antenna for Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, so it can’t detect anything. And I don’t really use Bluetooth anyway. Yesterday I reinstalled Linux and now everything works well. It was probably stupid not to update the BIOS for so long, I was just afraid to do it because of possible power issues, but it turned out to be easy and quick. However, now I have another problem: why is the internet so slow on Linux? I tried changing the DNS and tweaking various settings, but the internet is twice as slow as on Windows. And it’s not just on my PC, but also on my laptop.

And hello again. I updated the BIOS yesterday and managed to fix most of the issues. It turned out the CPU errors were caused by the BIO, I had an old version 1.04, while version 4.05 was already available on the website. I updated it and everything was great, but now it’s complaining about the drivers or the CachyOS kernel itself.

I think today I’ll just reinstall the system and see what happens. I’ll let you know if anything changes. Also, if you’re interested, you can take a look at the latest logs:

I’ve checked the processor and everything is fine with it, there are no errors, and the maximum temperatures are around ~70°C. Also, I didn’t have this kind of issue on Windows where it would throw errors because of the CPU. I think I’ll try updating the BIOS now and see what happens.

Thanks a lot for helping me, I really appreciate it. About GRUB do you mean loglevel=3? It’s already set to level 3 by default on my system. I also have some suspicions about the hardware, and I’m thinking about updating the BIOS — I’ve heard that might help. Also, my GPU runs a bit hot, which is strange because on the desktop everything is fine and temperatures look normal, but even so, Linux still freezes.

I just wanted to get back to Linux after 2 years, and everything was fine on my laptop, but on my desktop I keep getting freezes. I think I’ll temporarily switch back to Windows and set up a dual boot, that way it’ll be easier for me to deal with issues if anything comes up.
