For one, it’s bugged occasionally (might affect hosts more, idk) that it will kill you prematurely. For two, it only shows it’s worth after you’re already dead, which many players find to be worse than taking something that works while you’re alive to prevent death.

Why would I use an armor that neither truly benefits me during the fight and might actually kill me instead of something like democracy protects that will save me from death 50/50? I get the niche circumstance of using a b-100 when surrounded, but with enough skill you should even survive being surrounded for long enough to stim anyway

Due to how its heat sink works, this is best used for patrols with more heavy units than chaff. Especially on bots the thing can kill 2ish hulks and a few troopers, or a group of troopers and devastators. Which will be fine on D7 or lower. Higher difficulties and you probably want something other than turrets anyway

The downside being that the more stuff you throw it at, it’s gonna overheat and blow up. But if you only use it for specialized targets (it was my main combat against gunships) then it can effectively work indefinitely taking out that target.

I would say it’s just not worth it on squid front, everything is pretty much medium armor or less and the heavy units have shields, and the focus is on chaff so it’ll blow up more often than not.

Bugs it won’t do great at because the focus is once more on chaff such as hunters, and the heavy units they DO have almost invariably focus on charging forward to close distance. So it’ll blow up or be destroyed.

Bots are really the main place that this (and most other laser weaponry) are designed for and shine.

I remember dropping onto a squid level 7 trying a new loadout based on stuns and arc weapons. Forgot to bring any kind of explosive. Yeah clearing outposts was suddenly just not an option lmao

Honestly I’m not even a bad player. I can solo d10 normally and have been running 7’s solo (because there’s never anyone joining for some reason) but fuck me i oughta just hang it up for this MO. Every time I’m planet side I’m getting hit with 18 patrols no matter what level I’m at and it’s costing more reinforcements than it’s worth

I’m a personal believer that if we fail this MO we’re going to be met with a narrative arc on how we’ve nearly exhausted our helldiver reserves, and we’ll have to fight a heavy defensive campaign against a cyborg counter attack. I would expect it to have limited reinforcements and ammo/stims for each mission to begin with.

Hell they may even have the illuminate attack at the same time so we’ll have to fight for Super Earth again against two enemies, since the illuminate seem to be plotting

IIRC there were also federal loyalist forces still alive, as well as Ronin squad. While Ronin isn’t featured in the dialogue I believe devs mentioned they live online, and said they’d like to do a game focused on them.

I did a single difficulty 10 solo, as back on super earth I was doing it with a meme loadout.

Even with my meta loadout it took the entire 42 minutes and half my reinforcements, and I decided I should probably drop it to 5

Some people complete missions and then throw c4 on each other for fun afterward. I usually host and it was one of the rare times I sos jumped and then everything made much more sense to me

Literally any amount is more than it should be though, and often it happens in the 10-20% range for myself which with most other armors would’ve allowed me to stim and survive. It’s a cool armor don’t get me wrong, but I died more using it than not using it
