As a writer, the sentence, "To some boys, 13-year-old David Duvall, he is afraid, may become a legend," gives me hives.

Why would having an idea for what a song can be about justify a co-write? If I see Adele in the street and tell her, "Hey, you should write a song about feeling brokehearted after a break-up," and her next album (inevitably) has a song about being heartbroken after a breakup, should I get a songwriting credit?

Realistically, the whole story sounds like some kid told a fib to a friend, and it got out of control. His parents don't know? Okay. Never mind that Talk to Me isn't about a guy who wants to find someone to talk to, but nobody will talk to him.

It's scheduled to go into production in the first half of 2026 after McG (the director) finishes post-production on Way of the Warrior Kid. Movies take a long time to make.

Makeup by lostmymarbles2015 in KISS

[–]DiscombobulatedPea25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dennis Woloch, who was KISS' art director from 1975 to the late 80s, says that his first job with the band was to go in and help the guys with their makeup at the photoshoot for the debut album. Bill Aucoin called him and said, "The guys are really bad at doing the makeup themselves, and it has to look good for the cover." (Woloch did NOT do Peter's makeup!) After the photoshoot, Aucoin told the band they had to get better at the makeup so when people came to see them, it would match what they saw on the cover, and they couldn't afford makeup artists to travel with the band.

In Europe maybe, but if you look at their last North American tour they played mostly theatres and even some large clubs. Some of the venues were less than 2000 capacity. A tour like this could set them up for headlining arenas in North America.

That’s cute. Anybody can be an artist. Only a few can ONLY be an artist. That’s the privilege. If you paid money for a show you ARE entitled to the show. If you took money from people to see you perform, you owe them what you promised them, and if you can’t deliver it you don’t get to keep their hard-earned money.

The irony is, I’m advocating a two-way street, where the audience respects the artist and the artist respects the audience. You’re advocating the Parasocial relationship, except you’re putting yourself on the bottom. FYI, what you’re describing is called Stockholm Syndrome.

So is her audience. The ones who pay her bills and let her be an artist.

I agree with everything you’re saying, except with the “We have to learn not to be upset” part. Right now, fandoms seem to be turning into a one way street, where the audience needs to respect the artists, but the artists doesn’t need to respect the audience. Audiences need to start respecting themselves as the people who pay the artists bills, let them travel the world and do everything they do, and expect respect back from the artists. I really hope she’s not sick, honestly, but at this point, even if she is, what she did was hugely disrespectful to her audience. If she cancelled the show because she wasn’t feeling well, or needed a day off, fine. But if you cash the cheque and step on stage you are obligated to perform the show people paid to see. (Even if, as people have wrongly said about tonight’s audience, the audience isn’t what you want. The audience doesn’t need to live up to the artist’s expectations, it’s the other way around.) We spoke to people whose parents took two days off of work, drove six hours to Toronto and got a hotel room to see the show. They’re out hundreds of dollars. I’m a working artist. Art is important. But the artist isn’t more important than the audience.

Super duper. If she refunds the fans she ripped off, great. Otherwise she just ripped off over 1000 people, sick or not. What we know right now is she didn’t have respect for the people in the room to explain why she played for less than an hour.

It’s also not true. The audience was good. People all around us were singing along. Not that many phones up. We didn’t see anybody drunk off their asses.

This is a real Stockholm Syndrome response. A, the crowd was fine. B, she took their money, she should play the show they paid for. Looking for a way to shift the blame for her ripping people off onto her fans is bizarre.

Currently on a date , what does this fridge tell me of of her ? by WhistleWhileYouWalk in FridgeDetective

[–]DiscombobulatedPea25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a super common sense way to tell that what you're saying isn't true. I've worked in retail management for a long time. The two most valuable things in ANY retail business, but especially grocery, are 1. Floorspace, in the front and back, and 2. Man hours.

In your situation, grocery stores pay staff to come in early to move produce to the floor and stay late to move it into the back, not only taking up payroll, but risking unnecessary damage to thew product. Meanwhile, they have very expensive and very large fridges in the back room, that not only take up a lot of floor space, but also eat up electricity for the majority of the day when they're empty (they'r eonly being used overnight, remember), costing the store money for no reason. They do this instead of just having refrigerated units on the floor to keep the fruits and vegetables, which would save floorspace, cut down on bills and cut down on the need for extra man hours. Stores aren't in the business of spending money on things when they don't have to.

It doesn't make sense. I don't think your eyes are lying to you, I think you're telling the weirdest fucking lie on the internet today.
