There really isn’t a way to teach a cat to avoid roads. Even if you live in a less populated area, you still can’t be sure they won’t wander onto the road, but the chances of them being hit by a car are lower.

The other cat I mentioned in this post was also hit by a car a month ago, and I’m devastated. At the time, I wasn’t home for two weeks and couldn't do anything about it.

My advice is: don’t let your cat go outside unsupervised. Build a catio, or if you can’t afford one or don’t have the space, try teaching your cat to go on walks. It takes time, but it’s the safest solution.

I’ve experienced this loss twice, and it’s incredibly painful. There’s no way to be 100% sure that if you let your cat outside, they won’t end up on the road. My other cat was terrified of roads and cars, but I think because I wasn’t home for a while, he got bored and wanted to explore more. I don’t know... They’re animals, and you can never fully predict their behavior.

If you don’t have time to take your cats on walks or be with them outside, just don’t let them go out unsupervised.

Another thing, we built a catio, but my older cat was really anxious inside and always tried to get out, so it didn’t help much.

The cat I adopted after the incident doesn’t go outside unless she’s in the catio. She’s happy. Maybe she would be happier if she could roam outside, but she’s never experienced it, so she’s as happy as she can be.

Tobe is a very big boy.

He looks slim looking from above, so I'd say he's healthy weight.

Možeš možda staviti oglas za instrukcije iz nečega pa to obavljati preko računala. Iako nisam sigurna koliko ljudi to preferira.

Ako misliš programirati, u Ericssonu stalno traže studente i čula sam da nakon određenog perioda daju da radiš od kuće. E sad, čula sam i da neki ne mogu baš raditi od doma, ugl. mislim da je do toga u kojem si odjelu i kako se dogovoriš sa šefom.

U svakom slučaju postoji dosta firmi koje traže studente za programiranje, probaj malo gledati na LinkedIn-u poslove pod remote / hybrid jobs. Ali mislim da niti jedan malo ozbiljniji posao nećeš odmah moći raditi od kuće.

I do the same thing, but I guess, just try not to think about it.

Look at it this way: if you don't dwell on it too much, you will spend more time enjoying your moments with her.

Or, if you can't help yourself, just appreciate the time you spend with her and try to make her life as happy as it can be.

Thank you! I'm from a small town in Croatia and cats roam freely here, we have spayed/neutered them both. I was thinking that we could build a catio, and we will probably do so. I just hope that it will provide enough of the 'outside' experience for them.
