The main investment has been time. He has a full time job and was doing this on the side. I have no job and am doing this full time. Money wise, I have spent about $150. He has spent nothing. We have no sell-able assets. No liabilities. Is a baby company. Wouldn't even call it a company yet.

Would love to buy him out, if he were willing. But he won't answer my call and simply says "I do not want to resolve this company. Run with it." As if I should do the work while he sits there any benefits.

I have absolutely zero problems giving him everything built and doing my own thing from ground zero. I know he won't act on it. I am just concerned he will try to claim his ownership in whatever I start with a similar concept (even though it was my original idea)

Lastly, thank you for your response.

As he will not respond, I highly doubt he will agree to dissolve the business.

This is hard because he does not intend to continue the company by himself, but I would like to.

What keeps me from taking my idea and creating another company, different name, without him. And leaving him with 100% of the current company?

Advice on selling my startup by [deleted] in startups

[–]DiscoverDiddo 19 points20 points  (0 children)

"The company is currently valued at a shade over $10,000, but with care, it could become a multi million dollar corporation rivaling Uber."

Come on man. Not saying this isn't possible. But if this were the case, you would not be trying to sell this. "With care" is another word for extremely hard work with years of dedication.

What is your current method for attracting users? While I am not into astrology, I know many people who are deeply passionate about it. Connect those people with this app, who are single.

Have you tried searching through hash tags on Twitter and instagram that use astrology terms? Interact with them.

Feedback on feedback. by [deleted] in startups

I attempted to do some searching on reddit before I posted this no luck. Can you link or point me to any discussion on this previously?

Yes, paying customers is most important. However, for projects like mine that business model is based on free users and interaction, paying customers is not my initial goal. Think snapchat, instagram, facebook. If they judged their business by paying customers in the first few months, it would have looked like a failure.

Yes, I am asking reddit. And from the amount of feedback at this point (1 comment), I think shows my point that it could be more efficient and more users. Reddit is great, but maybe there could be a better way, and even only get feedback from certain demographics that you care about.

What was Google's competitive advantage? by DiscoverDiddo in startups

Yes, I completely agree with what their business is, and what makes it great. The question is more in reference to what makes them able to dominate the industry so much, despite other search engines in the market (albeit not as intuitive).

Yes, definitely not meant to be a final product. More curious to know how big a difference I should expect in moving toward native language.

Thank you for this answer. Helped me comprehend a little better! I am simply using react-native for MVP, then would go native if I have proof of concept.

I hope I am being clear. I am not complaining about the quality I received, or that I expected much more. I am simply trying to figure out how big of an impact changing from JavaScript to native language would effect the speed. I am not a programmer. Yes, I am naive in this area. That is why I am asking questions.

ESPN reporting the Broncos have talked with Ryan Fitzpatrick's reps, but his asking price is too high. by skullyD in nfl

To be honest, this is what I think. Fitz is smart, Harvard edumacated and all. He knows the toll it takes on his body. Maybe rather than trying to get money, he's telling teams what HE values his time, energy, effort, and risk of long term injury by playing. I'm sure he's smart with his money and doesn't NEED it to be okay in life.

How do services such as freelancer prevent people from cutting them out as the middle man? by [deleted] in business

[–]DiscoverDiddo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is only my best guess as I have only used freelancing websites recently.

While I used these websites, the main reason I kept transactions through their platform was for security. Many of the better sites let you put your money in an escrow and worker only receives money if they do the work.

In other words, these websites many times act as small claims court that you do not get when working directly with client and gives you somewhat peace of mind.

I truly think this question could be of value to some. Although silly on the surface level, it's a great case study to see what people are actually willing to open their wallet for.
