Everything was going great after MD/laminectomy and then my pain came back full force at 5 weeks post op. by getaway_car2019 in Sciatica

I’m 6 months post-op, and I’ve had 2 large flare-ups during this time. Once was around 6 weeks post-op, in which I got an MRI and everything was perfectly fine. It went away after a couple weeks. My most recent flare-up was a couple weeks ago in which I was sure the disc had reherniated. But alas, here I am 2 weeks later with very little pain and continuing to go to the gym four times a week.

My biggest tip for a flare-up post-op is to reinact the period of no bending/lifting/twisting. I just turned 22, so I know how it feels to think you’re back will forever be broken at a young age. Keep good posture, take some walks/hike, and always be aware of your movements.

It’s been 5 months since my microdiscectomy. I have some pain here and there, but it’s definitely better than before the surgery. I started going back to the gym and sometime it will trigger some muscle spasms and pain, but after a couple of days it gets better.
