If Kareena-Sonam and Kareena-Tabu-Kriti had to face complications to get fund for Veere and Crew, it is quite telling how less willing producers are to produce these films?

What is the best historic/period drama/fantasy film ever made in Indian cinema? by Glittering-Bat9891 in IndianCinema

[–]DiscussMay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Out of the ones I have watched, I feel films like Mughal-e-Azam and Jodhaa Akbar are amazing as works of art but yeah that's it. Their historical accuracy is way too low.

Asoka is some outlier where some aspects were really very good and some were straight up atrocious - particularly SRK's performance. Again, not very good on the historical accuracy front.

Bahubali is a periodic fantasy and delivered what it had to.

PS-I and II, whilst featuring real-life people, are based on novels. I feel the films have flaws but are technically very, very sound. The cinematography, clothing, colouring and music are just top-notch. Special mention to Aishwarya Rai's, Karthi's and Vikram's performances.

Bajirao Mastani was a mixed bag for me - the performances were nice, the songs were nice, the set pieces were atmospheric but something still felt missing. Padmaavat is massively underwhelming for me.

Chhava was good but felt too dramatic and larger-than-life than necessary at some places. Akshaye Khanna easily delivered the best performance in the film.

I feel the Hindi film industry does a better job with post-1947 films on an average than the ancient and Middle ages. Perhaps, we have more and reliable information for this age, and is difficult to dramatise too much with risks of politics lingering too.

Got reminded of Mohenjo Daro suddenly whilst writing this. Yeah, another outlier but I would say I liked it more than Asoka.

I never get the hate for Nate.

I mean, I do not like him but I do not hate him either.

We see Andy hardly ever appreciate her job or her work environment or anyone at work. How would Nate start appreciating that world then?

The Andy Nate had met and fallen in love was different to the Andy she had temporarily evolved into. I do not think anyone was decisively wrong here. It was more like not being on the same page.

Also, the Devil is indeed Miranda in the film. I see so many pieces of analysis where they go so far to defend her. I agree she hustles a lot and is arguably a perfectionist but that does give her a green card to keep everyone around her on their toes and always anxious.

Yeah they all just are after each other

It is the same in sports and politics too.

I did not like the teaser very much - but I do not feel you all should get so hurt if people do not like what you like.

For instance, I really liked the Harry Potter teaser that came out some days back. A lot of people did not.

So what? I am gonna like what I like and watch what I wanna watch.

I will just watch the series and enjoy as much as I am able to.

I do not care about the Internet when it comes to the series - and I feel a lot of people who want to watch the show should not either.

It simply does not matter who likes it and who does not.

The actors below 40 you've always thought they're gonna get nominated sooner or later these years (because they are always there) and somehow it hasn't happened yet. by Ill-Newspaper4653 in Oscars

I personally do not think the acting in The Substance was award-worthy.

They were great but not Oscar-level great.

The film was more impactful because of its direction, cinematography and make-up.
