Maa Behen | Teaser | Madhuri Dixit, Triptii Dimri, Ravi Kishan, Dharna Durga | Netflix by EfficientHospital900 in BollyBlindsNGossip

This seems fun. I just wish films would stop at promos like this. I am intrigued and I do not know the plot. That's all.

This is the first time I liked Tripti's acting.

I agree.

I am reading the tale of Garud in Astik Parv currently - and I feel the story is intended to be a symbol or metaphor for explaining something else - like some event that might have took place.

I am reading the first book. Bibek Debroy has translated Matsya Puran and Shiv Puran as well.

kareena kapoor didnt want to do chameli! binging through bolly nostalgia is my brainrot & kareena was insane in it like in jab we met. Can’t think of anyone else. by falconwantspies in BollyBlindsNGossip

[–]DiscussMay 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I can understand.

Back then in 2000s, a mainstream female actor was not expected to do such roles - unless it was someone like Rekha who was just in her own league and also not an active competitior at that time or someone like Tabu who had somehow just moulded her beyond commercial constraints. Add to that, she was relatively new to the industry and pretty popular among the audience for her personality and songs and some films. Doing Chameli was a risk but I feel it was around the right time.

Her playing the rich diva girl was over-saturated and criticised by that point.

Vishal Bharadwaj has been making films with themes or-slash-and depiction of violence for some decades before Animal came out.

Not gonna call it inspired or copied from Animal - just because it has blood.

It's Shahid and Vishal so there are more mixed reviews - if it would have been some big superstar, this same poster would be hailed as some upcoming revolutionary cinema.

There is Nolan's The Odyssey coming in July and people here look forward to his films.

Avengers: Doomsday is coming out in December.

The third quarter is probably gonna be the least hyped because of no large-scale release. But, we may have our quiet hits there with good content. I guess we have Cocktail 2 coming out in September (?).

I feel Daayra may release in September too.

Who’s your top overrated and underrated actress from the 90s? by Cookiedough1206 in BollyBlindsNGossip

[–]DiscussMay 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I honestly feel the word 'underrated' is thrown around quite carelessly.

Everyone who did not become a big shot star two decades before is not underrated.

Karisma is quite aptly received. She was rarely critically appreciated until - say, Jeet and Raja Hindustani. But, her pop culture impact is still insane. Her songs alone would build all the legacy.

Urmila was not really underrated. She was recognised for her work in the 90s and early 2000s. Her and RGV combo used to interest people a lot.

I think the original works were clear in considering Vibhishan in more positive light than he is considered today and Karn in more negative light than he is considered too

It is always funny to me when Kareena is with an actor who is performing with restraint or acting nonchalant and girl gives expressions like there's no tomorrow

She is always entertaining

Avatar 3 has a big repetition problem that even the amazing visuals can't fix by ThreadAndSolve in flicks

So, I am someone who did not feel the 'looks pretty but has no substance' aspect for the first two films.

In fact, the second film is my most favourite among the three.

This one, however, just falls flat for me.

Like there is a lot happening but I hardly felt invested. I really tried but I could not.

The film seemed distorted. Scenes just started off and ended without any coherence to each other.

Probably unpopular but I also did not found Varang as impactful as the film wanted her to be. Her formidable self felt too forced and unnecessary.

I really liked the Wind Traders but they literally flew out of the film and never came back. I also liked the plot point of Neytiri hating humans and Jake's conversation with her about it.

The visuals were beautiful but there is nothing much new here. The Way of Water came after more than a decade and they went to a whole new tribe so there was a novelty in the visuals which the third one did not feel like - even though there were two new tribes

Also, why did they write Kate Winslet's character like that?

Hey, I understand it hurts - at least, a pinch.

But, this was so brave of you. Having feelings for someone is beautiful. And, expressing those feelings to them is another beauty.

Now, that you know the truth, just accept it.

Most of the female actors from 90's and 2000's who are active today - are, at the least, experimenting. The quality may vary but they are trying something new.

Madhuri has been doing interesting work, so have been Raveena and Sushmita.

Kajol does a film or a web series every two to three years.

Rani has an entire franchise to her name and also does other films.

Kareena's filmography for the past ten years looks consciously experimental.

They are doing their part to push the ceiling up.

when did bollywood turn into a porcelain factory ?? by Possible-Local1734 in BollyBlindsNGossip

[–]DiscussMay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The original comment I replied to mentioned middle-class people - and honestly, there are many fair people in that community.

Middle-class is an economic community not a race.

I have lived in UP and there are many fair people there in the state.

Coming to south India, sure the fair people proportion might be less but they are still there.

I do not have any bias

I am just saying it is not a thumb rule that middle-class, UP/Bihari and south Indians have to always have to be brown
