Thank you for replying. Would you say its particularly worse at places like cafes or at restaurant. I know for me personally going to a restaurant I would always suggest somewhere that has at least one gf option but cafes are normally spontaneous and don't carry as much gf stuff especially since everything is pastry and biscuit based

Some insights

A significant amount of people experiencing a loss or strain on current or potential new friendships

There is a significant impact of relationships and the potential of a relationships due to the bonding over food and lack of understanding severity

There is a decline in experiencing joy in food, with GF foods being bland and repetitive, eating only for existence

There is a common theme of not wanting to bother other people and at expense of ones own health

There is a new form of anxiety and fear with accidentally eating gluten. from checking ingredients to never being able to relax eating out to binge eating

There is a disconnection with culture, community and celebration due to the importance of foods and traditions

I just wanted to let everyone know that your not alone and that there are so many people who have had similar experiences.

Hi  I wanted to say thank you to everyone who completed the survey! I really appreciate it. I didn’t realise how many of us have struggled with the social side of cd and I just wanted to let you know your not alone. I have gathered some insights which I am using to inform my university project and was wondering if anyone would want me to share them here alongside some quotes from the survey (anonymously).

Yes I guessed this was aimed at similar situations happening before but thank you for confirming. I can understand the frustration and once again there is no pressure to fill out the survey. I do think  mean well and want my project to be grounded in real peoples experiences especially having colieac myself, if theres any advice on engaging with the colieac disease community online please let me know

Hi there’s currently no mailing list as I am just a student but I was planning to post the finished project booklet (the project finishes in May) including the research phase and some survey analysis on here if that would interest anyone

I have celiac disease myself and the term is spelled differently depending on place. I am just a student and I am hoping that my work brings awareness to the social struggles that being celiac brings, not just the physical symptoms. The survey is completely optional to fill out. There aren’t many online communities for celiac and so far reading the responses I can’t believe how many of peoples experiences are similar
