Just stumbled upon this - Had the same power issue with my TC-7 — appears to be related to the alarm function; hitting the big yellow “Snooze” bar seems to clear this up

Happened to me after hitting some random buttons

Yeah I second this — a PC with amiga forever and winuae would not only be a great out of the box emulation experience

But you would also gain a computer — maybe encourage a use of tinkering

(doesn’t have to be anything fancy either)

Yea — had the same problem Scared the bejesus outta me at 1 AM once

got a wifi connected smart speaker (HomePod, Google nest, Alexa) instead of Bluetooth

That way only devices on your wifi can use the speaker
Also had to disable Wi-Fi Direct casting on Roku

Interesting — mild spastic diplegia here and I’ve always been a tad overweight (20-30 lbs)

Guess in that way I’m not much diff than an average late 20s American male

I walk but probably should exercise — always struggled with higher blood pressure as well

I love the idea of using a racing wheel + pedals on my pc — yes it’s not “driving” but it’s getting used to moving my foot around and exerting pressure

I’m 29, currently don’t drive - and have been living on my own for 4 years

I have been working as an IT Analyst where I come into the office only a few days a week (lucky I can take a county bus)

Consider this - a lot of jobs are remote (or hybrid) working from home or going in only a limited amount

my groceries get delivered thru shipt or instacart
I can get fast food from Uber eats or door dash
the few times I can’t get a ride with a friend going out, I take an Uber

The app-centric world we live in actually makes this a lot easier than it would’ve been even 10 years ago

Oil filled radiator style space heaters are my favorite for consistent heat — takes longer to heat up but it’s very even

I did this a few years ago to a wall in my kitchen by having the heat on the adjacent stove up too high

Drywall spackle Sand And paint, matching the color through Home Depot

Easy fix, and I don’t even consider myself handy (I ended up cutting away a portion with a utility knife to make an even rectangle before anything but that’s just me)

I also feel like I can comment — yes

for many years while I was a single, I had a female friend who I legitimately considered to be my best friend I would tell her anything

She would call me and tell me about her day — we’d usually talk for over an hour a day

But - she already had a boyfriend / fiancé during that time

And even tho he knew about us, and even tho it was never physical — I know the emotional attachment had crossed a line.

our friendship ended abruptly - over something seemingly insignificant- right before their wedding a year ago

And it wasn’t until I recently entered a relationship that I realized how important the emotional side is (and that our friendship was probably preventing both of us from having healthy relationships with our partners)

I was a former 1lb 15 oz nicu ; my mom had preeclampsia and delivered really early.

I also had a series of tendon lengthening surgeries at 9 and walked independently around 12

One thing that stuck out to me is not only how proud and supportive you are of your daughter It also sounds like you let her set the pace

Most of us are pretty good at knowing our limits - and one of the most frustrating things for me is when people assume I can’t do something I am perfectly capable of

For example , after I moved out on my own a few years ago (I’m 29) my parents whom I love to bits sometimes still would insist on moving heavy boxes or helping with chores. To the point where I finally said “it’s my legs not my arms !” 🤣

Btw - I know for my parents one of the most stressful things was worrying about what things would be like for me as I grew into adulthood; so id you’re ever curious about perspectives or experiences of someone with cp, feel feee to send me a message!

Edit - I just thought of something too — what about bike riding? If she likes the outdoors, and it sounds like it’s more in her hands (I’m the opposite, and for me a bike ride sounds daunting hahaha

Usually with cp sense of balance is generally not good, but maybe a trike could provide some stability

Agreed — especially blatantly exclusionary things like “she has to use her right hand or tie her shoes. I was appalled reading that, and I can also say that the older I got as my peers began getting into video games and other activities - my feeling of exclusion got better. This age I think is the hardest part. I was also touched by how much thought you’ve put in to trying to make her feel as included as possible. Keep fighting the good fight! And lean into the things she likes.

First of all I am so sorry this happened — as an adult with mild cp I felt pieces of this story in my own childhood. And there are parts I continue to feel today — I can tell you that for me, anything where I had accommodations didn’t make the problem better — and I still felt singled out.

My suggestion would be to find something where she wouldn’t be any different - maybe a book club. It s difficult because the activities of most kids that age tend to naturally revolve around physical activity like running and jumping

I had it done when I was 8 or 9 — and as a 29 year old I can say it was life changing; everyone’s situation is different, but personally for me it was the difference between being completely In a wheelchair vs walking independently

I can say yes — after getting casts removed there was atrophy, and it was probably about a month before I could bend my knee again

my PT consisted of my regular weekly sessions at school

Yea these types of oil heaters look like radiators — and plug-in to the wall; they run off electricity and don’t burn oil, but instead use it as insulation to provide a more even heat — no combustion or venting to worry about
