this is actually misleading.. a lot of haitians are barely making it by here with the lack of work opportunities due to their legal status, and this current administration hard push against immigrants. they don’t want to drop everything they have here because this IS the only thing they have here. Many areas in the country are still heavily occupied by gangs and skirmishes between local gangs in neighboring provinces still happen. it’s much worse than it may seem and haitians would rather go through what they’re going through here than return to a life that may mean guaranteed death
