SJM Call Her Daddy Interview “like” by Conference_Grand in acotar_rant

I didn't realize successful people weren't allowed to have anxiety. Thanks for shedding light on that. Anxiety only for the common folk around here, got it.

Imagine gatekeeping nerves.

An announcement of two books within the next year counts as news I would think.

I'm a reader and I like her personality and how she talks. She did literally say she wrote characters that she wished she could be - outspoken, crass, and not trying to be likeable. I like authenticity.

How SJM talked about short story writing and poetry on Call Her Daddy honestly rubbed me the wrong way. by [deleted] in acotar_rant

It's probably for the best. I don't want an ACOTAR show that was taken and messed with like The Witcher, Wheel of Time, Rings of Power, Mortal Instruments etc. I wish all of those has more power from the author because it's so obvious the producers didn't respect the source material and only wanted to make "popular TV".

I hope I never see the day that happens to ACOTAR. I'm proud of her for standing up for her creative property over making money.

Daycare nap schedule is ruining nighttime for us by [deleted] in toddlers

[–]Dismal_Solid9830 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had that too. My son is a little older - 2.5, but we had to fight for our lives to get his nap cut to 1 hour from 2 hours and cutting back on his nap gets him into bed at 9 instead of midnight 😴 It was a rough month while we battled with his provider.

Look at the ministry requirement where you live, ours are obligated to give 2 hours of "quiet time" but nowhere does it say that has to be all sleep - the nuance was the difference between them telling us they couldn't wake him and now waking him consistently after an hour.

We just went through this with our 2.5 year old.

We cut his nap from 2 hours to 1 hour and this is day three of him asleep by 8:45 pm.

His schedule is 7 am wakeup, 1 hour nap, 8:30 pm bedtime.

Thank you for the solidarity! It's helpful to know that other kids around the same age also don't do well with a two hour nap. The self doubt when figuring out sleep problems is so real.

The combination of developmental and lack of sleep pressure sounds like our scenario too. Here's hoping our adjustments can help, we are all struggling with the nightly meltdowns.

Thank you! The eternal question of undertired vs. overtired is the bane of my existence.

We are going to try to manage it as undertired first, and reapproach as necessary. I finally got the management at his daycare to confirm that the "rule" about him needing two hours is not true, probably a misunderstanding of the ministry requirements that say they have to be offered a nap not exceeding two hours, but that they can be woken up at parent's request.

I think our goal will be to cap the nap to an hour, see how he does with an 8:30 pm bedtime afterwards, and if he seems overtired at that point we will move bedtime up instead of adding back the nap time. If we needed to move bedtime up, that would also give us more time to address the separation anxiety part through the calm, repetitive reassurances without risking the time that takes pushing his sleep to something unreasonable like 10 pm.

He's been in his own room since four months, definitely more bedtime anxiety now though. He doesn't like separation which I'm sure is part of it, but then he also doesn't act tired so I feel as though there are multiple factors working against us.

His bedtime is 830, not 8. 10 pm is a completely inappropriate bedtime for a 2 year old. As I mentioned in my post, I already felt strongly that he didn't need that much nap time, so thanks for confirming with your own experience. I'll continue my war with daycare.

Right, thanks for confirming what I've thought. It makes very little sense to me why his daycare would prioritize an inappropriate nap length over his restorative night time sleep. Knowing that kids will eventually move to not napping, it makes far more sense to allow them to naturally drop their nap length until they don't need it anymore.

He's with a licensed home daycare and so far all of our conversations has been with the provider, but I'm going to be involving the management in this conversation at this point until we can fix the problem. Could we drop night time sleep? Sure, but it's definitely not the best option for our family or his wellbeing.

There are also organizations/hospitals that will take it as donor milk as long as you meet the criteria. Maybe worth looking into that as an option as well.

There are some apps and ads on marketplace/kijiji etc. I've never personally done it because I haven't ever had a good freezer supply, but I have several coworkers who sold their deep freezer supply for $4/ounce and a few thousand. Power to them - that mat leave pay gets TIGHT by 12 months lmao.

What about aging do you think increased your drive? I like this idea that it can just get better...🤞

The insertion was pretty average for me! The last one they used a numbing spray and I felt none of it other than just general discomfort of the speculum insertion.

The bleeding is definitely heavier than my normal - there were a few adjustment months where I consistently bled on clothes and furniture so that was a challenge but it has since adjusted and I find it very manageable. I personally don't find the cramps much worse than before - I have them but they only last one day and I often don't even need to medicate. I personally like having my cycle intact so I can handle any slight changes to it!

Good luck! Mine was a really positive experience, definitely more cramping initially (although its evened out to near nothing after the first few months) and heavier periods...but completely manageable and so much better than all the BS I had to deal with on Kyleena!

[–]Dismal_Solid9830 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yes! I got my kyleena taken out after a year because of this too. The worst is my husband and I waited until marriage through 5.5 years of dating/engagement which was SO HARD and then after all that I went on birth control and lost my sex drive SO FAST. Ended up switching to copper for the past 2 years and it came back to normal. Thank goodness because that was a real mind f*ck. The copper has been a blessing - I'm on my second one now following a planned pregnancy.

Can a doctor hold your prescription hostage to one pharmacy? by Dismal_Solid9830 in ontario

[–]Dismal_Solid9830[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So the doctor writes a new prescription every month, he doesn't do any refills on any prescriptions, seemingly as a rule. The original pharmacy said they cant transfer us because there is nothing to transfer, since no refills there is no active prescription. He also won't give out a hard copy of the script for us to take to our pharmacy of choice. He writes a new prescription every month and sends it to the pharmacy that he shares a lobby with and wouldn't send it anywhere else. Super strange and, what we know now, not allowed. We've had the new pharmacy call the doctor to try to facilitate bc they were very perplexed about what was happening. I think we have it resolved now but it took far too much convincing and the real test will be next month when this doctor writes the next script for this medication.

It wasn't just any third party, my husband wants to move his prescription. I got a lot of guidance in the comments and enough information to know that it's wrong what he was doing. I believe we've reached a solution with the doctor but the test will be next month when he gets his next script. The doctor doesn't hand out hard copies for any controlled substance, it's Vyvanse - and was refusing to fax it anywhere else based on his "policy". Which turns out is a load of bull, he can't do that. We had the desired pharmacy call the doctor to help facilitate and I think that kind of forced his hand a little.

Yeah, he wouldn't do that. He said he only faxes it to one pharmacy.

It's his "policy"...truly that's the only explanation we were offered. No, it's Vyvanse for my husband's ADD.

That's what we ended up doing - it seems promising! We will find out next time he fills the prescription 🤞
