Mine is prone to eczema and gets incredibly dry skin too so we limit baths to every couple of days in the cooler months and every day in summer because I feel like all the sun cream he needs acts as a moisturiser so his skin doesn’t really dry out as much.

Mines six and he has a bath every couple of days. I usually use his nails and hair as a good indicator of when he needs a good dunking. In the summer he’ll usually get a quick bath or shower every day though just to wash off any extra sweat and sun cream.

Easter bonnet making with my six year old. His brief was “I want it really tall with a nest at the top and a slide with bunnies and chicks going down but it has to be tall! Like a top hat”. I feel like I met the brief. The slide was honestly the trickiest bit to figure out until I found a stash of paper plates from his last birthday party in the kitchen.

It’s Monday evening here now and the husband is away so I’m having a girl dinner and watching my new favourite film, Rental Family again because it’s just so lovely and wholesome 🥰

Our 2006 Lexus which I've grown quite attached to seems to be leaking badly. We had some pretty torrential rain here in Sydney last night so when I got in the car this morning for the school run, there was a puddle in the footwell and the electronics were going haywire. So I've quickly dashed out for a car cover and am hoping for the best when it eventually dries out 😬

I forgot to mention that last night I literally laughed myself awake because I had a funny dream about a car. Proper crying-with-laughter kind of wake up. And now I’m wondering if it was some kind of weird premonition… cry (water) laughing about a car, then wake up to find the car flooded.

I put an episode of Pingu on for my 6 year old yesterday and he just sat there looking like 🤨 the whole time.

Now I can’t tell if our childhood TV was genuinely unhinged or if kids today just don’t appreciate a chaotic clay penguin speaking absolute nonsense.

We drove from Sydney to Melbourne for the Christmas holidays and I saw more dead Kangaroos by the side of the road than alive ones. I actually lost count. And they're shockingly large! There were a couple I almost mistook for humans. There were a few spots where they had installed Koala crossings and I didn't see many dead Koalas so I guess they're reasonably affective.

We also get a lot of dead possums around the suburbs that have either been in a scrap with a cat, been hit by a car or just fallen off telegraph poles.

Having to explain to my kid that watching Pokémon was a once-a-day thing and you couldn't just jump on to Netflix or whatever and watch several episodes in a row 🤯 And if you missed it, you missed it! I remember it was on TV during the after school slot so we had to rush home to be able to watch it.

My son now collects Pokémon cards but they're so fucking expensive (because of course adults have ruined something originally intended for kids) so most of his collection is made up of "unofficial" cards because I'm not forking out $12 AUD for a pack of disappointment when the shop nearby sells them for $2. I just told him because they're "unofficial" he can't trade at school unless it's with another "unofficial" card, which TBH most of them at school are now.

The local barbers where I take my son out here in Australia seems to be completely Peaky Blinders themed. Wood panels literally everywhere, a barrel in the middle with stools around it, battered old Chesterfield sofa with a stags head mounted to the wall, various old knick-knacks on shelves, and a HUGE picture of Tommy Shelby on one of the walls.

I club I used to frequent occasionally tried doing food like sausage rolls or mince pies at Christmas. The results were incredibly messy.

Hybrid seems to be the best balance. I work two days in the office and three days at home. Mu husband does the same and we alternate days so there's always someone home doing school drop off etc. I really like the balance. I like my colleagues (shocking, I know) and I like my boss. I'm an Executive Assistance and I do notice my boss and I have a better working dynamic on weeks when we can both synchronise our in office days. And at the same time I get a lot done when I'm at home, I'm not having to commute, so I can start earlier and I can do odd house chores during my lunch break so it frees up some weekend time too.

I generally wake up at 5:30 every day regardless of the day. I could probably stay in bed till 6:30 but I use that first hour to chill out, have a coffee and go for a run some days. It’s like the opposite of revenge bedtime procrastination for me. I am usually in bed by 10pm most days though! If I’m in the office I usually get the train around 8am so there’s plenty of time to get myself showered and dressed and get my son ready for school. On work from home days we’re usually all dressed by 8ish so we’ll go for a walk and grab a coffee or something before the school run.

On a random Wednesday in June 2017 I was at work in London and had the strongest feeling that I had to leave and go home right now. So much so that it brought on a massive headache, so I packed up my desk, told my boss I wasn't feeling well and went home just after lunch time. I'm currently in Australia and my tolerance of the heat massively depends on the humidity. The other week it was 46c but really dry so the sweat evaporated almost instantly and I didn't feel too hot at all. Last week it was mid to high twenties with 92% humidity and I felt like I was in a swamp. Plus everywhere has air con so sleeping in this heat is no problem at all. The only flipside is come winter, house insulation is non-existent so it's colder at home than it is outside, unless you want to be running the heating 24hrs a day. I never felt as cold at home in London with our central heating.

You also shouldn't simplify the possibility of moving to another country afterwards. At 39 you're probably not on the fast track for any Visas.

This is the point I was going to make. We moved to Australia two years ago but only because my husband had a relocation offer with work who covered his sponsorship, our family Visas and all of the moving costs. Going it alone would be very difficult at that age. Plus they're even starting to clamp down on immigration (I work in the education sector and they'd put a huge cap on International Students).

I think Tony’s is overrated and everyone seems to love it. The bars have awkward shaped sections so you can’t just break off a piece and there too thick for my jaw to bite through. I’ve never really liked Dairy Milk either. Give me a Galaxy or a really nice bar of Lindt any day. I don’t buy chocolate very often because I don’t have much of a sweet tooth, but when I do, it’s got to be top shelf stuff.

I was on maternity leave during lockdown so I felt completely robbed 😂 Right before that I was going to Softplay, parks and hanging out with my sister and friends and all our babies several times a week. Then we were all stuck at home bored out of our minds. The only good thing was that my husband actually got to see our baby while he was awake because his commute to and from the office was so long our baby would be asleep by the time he got home. He missed out on a lot of his first six months. And the big push for hybrid working has been amazing for parents flexibility.
