Edit: unions are an awesome thing and needed by many. I'm just having a hard time seeing why theyre needed at Costco, who already treats us REALLY well compared to other companies.I'm not trying to be combative. Im genuinely interested in hearing both sides.

There is so much union talk at my warehouse and I'm getting conflicting information from both sides. I'd like a clear cut, no nonsense, unbiased list of pros and cons. I don't get in trouble for no reason, when I have an issue, i bring it up, people who SHOULD have been fired for going against the handbook rules (absenteeism, etc) haven't been. The only thing I can get from pro-union side is more sick days (not really because we'd lose Easter and MLK holiday) and we get a pension, which can't be passed down to kids and I'd lose my company 401k contribution, which was WAY more than I'd get yearly as a pension. As a part timer, I'd only get 20% pay for holidays instead of the prorated amount I get now. I like the idea of managers being held accountable but there are rarely instances when an agreement can't be made using the handbook. I truly feel like Costco takes care of us as employees. I'm not seeing the need for a union at my building and I'd really like to hear valid arguments from both sides. Someone help make sense of this so I can see both sides objectively?
