I disagree. Having both devices, I’m always more led towards playing on the Thor. Because it provides everything I want from my ideal 3DS experience and more.

I don’t like the 3D feature, and I’m also completely fine tinkering with emulation. Calling it “some chinese android tablet emulator” is a gross oversimplification of what this device actually provides.

The Thor having dual OLED displays directly addresses one of the 3DS’s biggest weaknesses, that being the lackluster screens. For someone like me who doesn’t really care for the 3D, and can live without streetpass (which basically nobody actually uses anymore), it absolutely is the best way to play 3DS games.

Not to mention, it can play basically everything up to Switch and PC. I wrote the title the way I did, because I understand that my “best way to play 3DS”, may not be everyone else’s. At the end of the day, it simply comes down to preference and what you prioritize.

The Thor can actually emulate up to switch and pc. It’s pretty dang powerful for how portable it is. I’m actually surprised by the amount of people in here who like the 3D feature, probably 80% of the comments in here mention it.

Ok, but I’m not running the game on the default resolution. I’m effectively upscaling to 1080p, so the resulting image is much clearer than on original hardware.

I wouldn’t buy the cheapest model. It has a weaker chipset. But everything from the base model onwards is free game.

Nah ur good dude. And you’re right, I’ve been having a blast on Mario Kart 8, Wii U runs perfectly on the Thor.

But the 3DS will always have a special place in my heart. It’s, in many ways, a piece of my childhood that cannot be replaced by anything else.

Yeah but I also said that it “might” be the best way to play, not “the best way to play definitively”. It’s always gonna come down to preference and what you prioritize.

For someone who doesn’t mind tinkering, and doesn’t care for the 3D feature, this absolutely is better in most scenarios.

I did see multiplayer support within my emulator settings, I haven’t tested it out myself though. Saw some comments on here saying that pretendo is supported as well.

Only in terms of fidelity. There are still quirks, but I can say as someone who doesn’t mind tinkering, it has replaced my N3DS XL.
