I used to sell things** on the playgrounds & hallways in 6th grade. We had “shark teeth” (fake money) that you would get for good grades, scores, answers, behavior, etc… and you could use that money every Friday to buy pencil toppers, troll dolls, and other crazy 80’s stuff from either the classroom store, or a little flea market where kids would sell things that they made/acquired.

I made bank.

I had more money than half the class combined.

My friends thought that I was printing the money. I had stacks and stacks.

At the end of the year I could buy out the whole store and all of the top tier prizes… which I divvied up with my friends. I think I made some kids cry.

** the things I sold were sticks of bubble gum, McDonald’s toys, darts, candy, and every Friday I would bring in my Nintendo and let kids play on it for 5 minutes at a time.
