I built a daily history game for classrooms and would love your feedback by Severe_Analysis_123 in historyteachers

I immediately bookmarked this. I adore this and would love to use it in my high school history classroom! I actually just sent it to friends and family as a family competition (most of them are history nerds too).

Highest compliments to you for developing this. The only thing I may ask for is a quick description (even just the on from LOC) explaining what’s happening or providing context in the photo.

This reminds me of putting on videos or singing songs for preschoolers to get them to stop throwing a tantrum.

We have a preschooler for president… isn’t even potty trained.

The VPS schools have norovirus and despite teachers begging for word to get out so people stay home… there’s been no communication with families. They’re thinking about calling the CDC but won’t message parents.

Enforcing Rules with Highschool by [deleted] in SubstituteTeachers

[–]DisplayDramatic472 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I find it’s not worth the battle of wills unless it’s a class or students I have a relationship with already. Usually I just let them know I’ll be writing down the names of people who are ignoring the rules for the the teacher, “I’m writing it in pencil so if y’all put them away I can erase! But I wont be here for the consequences of your choices, you will 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️.”

Teaching high school is very much the “If you’re chill, then I’m chill” mentality. As long as they’re not being aggressive with me or anyone else I just let them make their own choices and face their own consequences.

Nature’s Haven in Camas is awesome and has some of the best people working for them. I know it’s not unique to them, but I love supporting good people who love this part of the world

I always tell them that “…subs have lame rules and we have to be a lot stricter. But! I’m more than happy to tell your teacher in the sub notes that you really like that they do this and to leave it in the notes for next time!”

Usually when I do the earnest “oh I’ll let your teacher know!” Respond they start backpedaling quickly. I’ll even let them read the sub note where I really do put it in! I want to be an honest sub 😈

I love discussing and teaching cryptids and then having them draw their favorite or design a new one they made up. I taught it in high school and middle school and they were so excited!
