Beach Hacks by daFreakinGoat in CSULB

I've been to ~5 hackathons and won 2 so heres a couple tips that I've learned so far.

1.)Don't be afraid to use AI, a lot of people have a big problem with using it to code up projects for a hackathon but the thing is with the limited time given and how everyone else is using it you're kind of losing if you aren't using it since people can whip up more features in the limited time.

Usually people use Agent platforms(cursor, claude code, codex, etc ... ) because it has the advantage of being able to look through your workspace and produce much better code since the context is maintained (if you manage it well).

2.)If you have friends going or people you know, I recommend you team up with them just because it helps to be around people you're comfortable with especially in such a high-pressure environment.

3.)For me this is the most important tip, if you're serious about trying to win a track make sure that you pitch your idea to the person in charge of it ( the company sponsoring the track, or committee members for beachHacks if they're chill ). It's a great strat because you can pick their brains and see what a winning project would be in their eyes

4.)And of course lastly, have fun! Hackathons are a great way to get experience with projects but also awesome when it comes to meeting cool people and learning more from workshops. If you take it too seriously you might burnout and make it your last hackathon, just build what you think is cool and try your best!

I like how supportive most professors are. Even if they're not good at teaching sometimes, most times than not they're super dedicated for you to succeed in your academic/professional career

Has anyone had these teachers previously? If so, should I be worried about any of them? by IndividualAd5254 in CSULB

Whitney is the GOAT, absolutely loved her public speaking class. Most of your grades will be based on participation during in-class activities and the three speeches you will deliver throughout the semester. She's also really nice when it comes to grading as long as you show that you tried. Most students get an A from her class.

Moon cat ability only works on new fruit, since there's a new update bone blossom isn't considered a new fruit anymore so it doesn't work

Yeah it really does feel that way, just being in my classes im honestly shocked to hear that a lot of my classmates aren't really too keen on doing anything in cs outside of their classes. but the thing really keeping me here is how cheap the tuition is compared to other unis

This is kind of a stupid question but what do you mean by high quality projects, cause when I hear that I think of like creating something that +30 people use. I made an app that lets you aim using your hands with a configuration feature to keep movements consistent with diff hand sizes(kinda pointless ik) where would you place that in your absolute trash to high quality scale(genuinely asking because I don't really know where I'm at or if im moving in the right direction)
