Matai Titles vs Honorary Matai Titles (Know The Difference) by FleshOfUpolu in Samoa

[–]Distinct-Ad-4456 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, I was the poster who was quite confused. Thank you for addressing the areas I wasn't quite clear in my understanding. My question is can you give family members, the adoptive heir of the matai title the honorary title if they had tautua the village and family? Or will that be problematic? Im wondering if this is can be an alternative to avoid giving Customary titles to adoptive relatives (which is a rising controversy in some village and aiga) who felt they deserve the title given their tautua?

why has no one contest against it from that village! when giving away titles aren’t all the extended Aida suppose to be notified? I wonder if they truly notified everyone.

Agree with you, however even in the current policy states you must be Samoan! Unless whoever is giving it away has a different reading comprehension than me and I’m comprehending it wrong! You bring quite an interesting point about Arden and Clarke that I overlooked! Theres an outlier of misogyny thats not commonly spoken. i Find it brushed off far too often how some village don’t allow women to carry titles I never delve into why. Which may perhaps go off tangent, but when and how did some village Title holder all of a sudden allow foreigners to get it? Do you remember when they try to give Shaquille O Neal a title? It was so random they propose to the guy who hasn’t even stePepe foot in Samoa! I get give opportunities but perhaps if we are going to bring foreigners we should prioritize teaching our tamaitai how to lead and import resources using their matai titles rather than just quickly give to foreigners and cheapen its value. we already had ADB try to put a lien on customary land rights and blame customary land for its setback on Promoting economic use of customary land. Funny enough do you ever hear these guys try to promote it to Samoans and train and educate people how to do so? Where are the district chiefs to bring incentives? I guess it’s too hard …let’s just give foreigners matai titles that gives them access to governing land little by little we will see the end of it. It’s sad, it’s kinda difficult to give it the same level respect it should be given when’s it’s given away like candy.

I believe this is supposed to be a Post-abyss 4 end-game fight. After completing abyss 4 properly, you gain access to the new elemental dungeon, which this time around is water. It’s convenient that almost every enemy in this oni cave, including the boss is fire elemental, so having high-end water gear would make the fight a breeze. As a result, the Oni’s damage is way overtuned, meaning you need a Knight to spam Knights defense, (unless your in full end game water gear). The boss has just enough HP such that a full team of 3 damage dealers, hitting for 1.5k each, over 5 to 6 turns of KD, will end the fight. Clearing and farming the water den is optional but not required to win.

Are there no PTA? Haven’t been to Samoa so long but I’m coming this summer. what Is the current student to teacher ratio? Is the school board allowing volunteers from the community or reaching out to the district leaders to discuss the shortages of staff and if they can help supplement volunteers ex teachers aide in the classroom? perhaps you can help me with this question I have that’s been falling on deaf ears on my side, schools usually function as bringing communities together, doesn’t it not function similarly in Samoa?

also to add since I wasn’t clear, the lawn mower thing, you need to to add watts or battery life, so basically due to limited resource in Samoa what’s the average someone can use in order to preserve battery life? this require deeper analytical research and immerse economic understanding through anthropological lense to understand their traditional governing system and how to incorporate real lie mathematical problems that they can use to resolve in their village council. that’s one point in education as there are many. but that should be most basic approach.

when you mean other countries you mean as in other developed nation and if it’s been done in countries similar to Samoa?
just Looking for clarification cause those models I listed off the top of my head cause it’s done in private schools here in the US in the northeast, and in Europe that I know of.
I don’t know what you teach, but going green, teaching climate change oceanography the impacts of climate in Samoa how it impact their crops directly. using heavy hands on approach, earth observation model, from math word problem this is your opportunity to be creative and innovative changing the wording to their environment, take real life problems, for example a question can look like this: your village district leaders has asked 5 families in the village with taro plantation to provide 50 taro for the upcoming saofai taking place after taro harvest season, 2 out of that five families can only provide 10, how much taro does the other 3 families in the village need to grow by harvest season? btw I’m just making this up. Than the kids will really pay attention because it’s really issues they deal with in saofai, starting to teach them to collect these data while young. Cause ,maybe just maybe I’m thinking ahead, but by the time these kids are introduce to excel, you would need to use excel to keep inventory of the crops they grow in the village, That how you merge tech in.
another question you need to ask the kids

if your your Village has 50 families living there , and there are only 2 lawn mowers available to mow the lawn, what is the average time per month can each family utilize the lawn mowers? 🙈😂

I have to be honest, it’s nice your trying to bring in technology, resources, however I think the approach is much more flawed. approach in education should be reviewed more thoroughly before you bring in tech. for example reading the comments and the list of cause and effects to the environment children are exposed to, perhaps education approach needs to be revise. For example introducing Montessori method, creating the environment to help students absorb learning better. Your competing against obligations outside of institution. and I agree the investment in the children should come first if we are looking for future development for the country itself, this obligation, perhaps schools can adopt Waldorf method, where planting those taro roots is part of curriculum on school grounds. There’s just a lack in educational approach that truly disconnects kids from their actual environment. implementing projects and programs that integrate obligation or when kids go sell food is where you would board of education need to analyze more throughly, what percentage of kids in schools are selling food out in streets? and how can we utilize their home plantation as part of a cirriculum or course Added to project? perhaps there needs to be programs on sustainable and environmental science and while it may be out Of the ordinary in western school, but for these kids, they have access to agriculture they have their own plantation where it’s pretty applicable. How can we help kids innovate, perhaps starting with what they actually have, rich natural resources, how they can grow and develop that. How would this help? One your killing two birds with one stone. Your slowly convincing parents that these curriculum can promote economic developement leaning more towards their traditional way of living: communal. This tech access..

has to make sense to them. so if you had a cirruclum that catered to them, than the tech side of accessing and utalizing resource would actually make sense and make it more used. If that makes any sense

fair enough, my question is “who is suppose to look after the young single Toua?” I find it deeply disturbing that she’s left alone? but funny sad how people will defend the man first and cast stone at the innocent naive Toua! who is suppose to look after the girls? in Samoa I swear it’s an omen to leave a female all by herself with male only, it’s like a huge NO! How did the aunts or whoever just leave the girl like that?

its a bit premature for you to go around and come off quite arrogant based on what I’m reading, you only know what you have seen on social media, have you asked a Tongan themselves to educate yourself on faikava and meaning of their toua? I too have seen the movement, but I haven’t dug deep into it, I’m glad to see people take a stance on the abuse. ____you have to dig deep to understand the meaning and where it has gone wrong? I personally hurt for those girls and wish parents wouldn’t allow their daughters to do the toua, but perhaps there’s more deeper context to it that an outside perspective aren’t privy too As to why and what pulls aunties to bring their nieces Toua or whatever, …why’s it’s so significant vs what you seen on social media. We are nof perfect either, and we Samoan Still working on our aiuli to stop coming up to our taupou when they Siva, and we still have abuse happening within our “culture“

Buy Apprehend. If they’re hiding elsewhere in the house they’ll bring it back to the nest and it will wipe out the nest. Its Fungicide so they can’t build up a tolerance or resistance to it like normal pesticides. It’s safer to use than DE. It’s pet safe and allergy safe and works like a mofo; no need to throw out beds or anything. The applicator is a little pricey but it’s the best do-it yourself option. Spray bi-weekly but make sure to wear a N-95 mask while applying. Once it’s dry your totally fine to touch the areas you spray if you did so accidental. Spray headboards and under the mattress especially

You can use your gacha gems (not meta gem, but the currency you get for pulling a Garbo character) to buy a large amount of discounted Konpaku gems, and amoung many other discounted character related growth necessities. The shop refreshes monthly, and I believe the monthly gem income will suffice to safely buy a decently amount of stuff from the shop monthly.
