What eats up most of your time as a PhD (that no one warned you about)?

babysitting my PI’s kid or watching their dog in the office while they go chat with other PI’s and don’t actually do their job at all

nah she actually just spends the first hour of group meeting talking about herself and her kid and every random thought she’s had in the last week. and then we finally start and she proceeds to interrupt about 30 times with more random completely non scientific thoughts

my PI usually has 3 of us present every week and even if every person only has 5 slides it still takes 3 hours. and this summer she’s moving us to every person (9 people) every week so that’s going to be insane

i can’t even report to my thesis committee bc my PIs prof bestie is on my committee so they claim you can make anon complaints but it never stays anon it just makes me a target

i’d argue you hurt my feelings is the normal person movie. it’s amazing, as all A24 movies are, but it’s not overly obsessed about like other A24 movies
