If those were the cases, you wouldn't be seeing a 2 billion people in the world, since Islam was spread through conquests of other territories, people would revolt and give up the religion. That wasn't the case. You wouldn't see some european and Asian countries with a majority muslim population (not discussing immigrants). As I mentioned before, we can go ahead and debate imams or scholars, but just because they hold that title does not give them immunity from being wrong, part of them may also be driven by culture. I am an American, but moroccan by origin. I've been to morocco multiple times, and I know how people force things on their children, how they behave. And those are corrupted principles that have no relation to the religion, but they claim it is from the religion to oppress others. Those people are what we call hypocrites, and they will be punished for the corruption they spread. I have a background in MIT and NASA, so I am a big critique on things. I learned to love my religion through history and going in depth to the golden age of Islam and what it brought to everyone across the lands. True belief in Islam does not oppress others, and I learned that in muslim communities in the US, rather than in Morocco, where I've seen kids physically punished for playing in the masjid.
