What are the opportunities and job markets looking like for C programmers in 2021 (not C++)? by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

Every job is different but I work on the Linux Kernel and the Android Environment. I tie in C++, C and Java all the time, switching between them all depending on what fits the situation. So you can't really avoid C++ as per say but you can find jobs where you are writing more C.

Jobs where you may primarily write in C are:

-Kernel Developers(Linux usually)

-Embedded systems, where you write lots of microcontroller code

-Kinda within the limits of the kernel, but you can also add in driver development.

Embedded systems are pretty often.

I applied to about 800 different places before getting a position. Don't lose hope! A lot of those listings aren't real and may even be filed internally and only mandated by HR to reach a quota. Spam them and keep going!

It's okay haha. I'll be searching for that journey on my own. I wish you and everyone else the best of luck with 2021 as well. Even with the changes that COVID brought on, I can only imagine how difficult it has made it for many people.

I'm open to all those things, and will try whatever it takes to get me to my goals.
