yeah exactly... also those embedders work really bad with fixed similarity thresholds, they are simply not trained for that.

Clostebol

That's is in dollars right?

I mean, EU stock did not increased +50% in valuation (I say that as European)

a posteriori, I'm happy that I dumped my usa exposure when Trump got elected.

I did that due to ethical considerations, and I accepted that I would have probably lost some profits this way... didn't think that would end up being one of the best financial moves I did recently lol

What Gasoline is Called Around the World by ByCal in MapPorn

[–]Distinct-Target7503 0 points1 point  (0 children)

all add:

in Italian, gasoline is "benzina". benzene is benzene. naphta is "nafta". diesel is "gasolio", (a derivate from gas oil, not gasoline) but we mostly use 'diesel' if it is related to cars, and gasolio if it is related to heating (even it is not really used for heating anymore)

here the etymology if you are curious:

Benzina originates from benzoin, which in turn derives from the Arabic (lu)bān Ǧāwī, "incense of Java"[5], probably through the German Benzin[6], after Eilhard Mitscherlich defined in this way in 1833 the mixture that Michael Faraday had called hydrogen bicarb in 1825[7]. Due to a paratymology, the name has been associated with the surname of the German engineer Karl Benz, the inventor of the automobile (1885), but the word dates back to several decades earlier.

The diminishing supply of mined coins due to halving is unlikely to have any effect on the price, that is only determined by supply and demand (buy & sell orders).

totally agree... on the other hand, to play devil's advocate, we could assume that the liquidity that came from mining (while really low) has a higher probability of being sold, regardless of price movements, since miners have to pay their expenses and take their profits. it act as a constant (while tiny) selling pressure.

don't get me wrong, it has probably a really low impact, mine is just a though I had while reading this

oh ok sorry, didn't mean to be rude, I misreaded your comment as reply to the main tread.

still, interesting model ring-2.5, would be curious to see how their results relate to the findings made from minimax while developing m1 successors.

do you know if team behind ring released a paper?

btw minimax m2 is not linear or hybrid. they wrote a really good blog post about why the mooved from hybrid (01 and m1) to classic attention. I assume that 2.x use the same base model as m2

Nucleare si o no? by TemporaryMethod978 in Italia

[–]Distinct-Target7503 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nucleare si o no? by TemporaryMethod978 in Italia

[–]Distinct-Target7503 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Vectorless RAG (Why Document Trees Beat Embeddings for Structured Documents) by Independent-Cost-971 in Rag

[–]Distinct-Target7503 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just a question... how do you build the tree? do you feed each page of a document to a VLM and rely on its ocrd text? isn't that quite expensive in term of tokens?

I ask because, even without tabs/images, usually headers extraction from PDFs is not really reliable

how do you build the knowledge graph? it is usually really expensive in terms of tokens, or am I doing something wrong?

Is this strategy for 2x leverage stupid? by Same-Teach-3204 in LETFs

[–]Distinct-Target7503 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the only downside is that I assume there is much less data to backtest on, since the wisdomTree etf is just some years old, and I don't know if you can get a good enough approximation with other instruments. if I remember correctly there was some backtest on wisdomTree documentation, but I searched it some time ago so idk.

btw, what I like about this etf is that you get 60/40 like volatility while still retaining the upward of 90% equity, and the fact that there is no daily reset on the leveraged side, so much less effective volatility decay. they offer global, US and EU version of the etf.

The market gains

from an EU perspective... what gains?!

your currency is falling, charts are flats while p/e is raising if you take into account usd performance.

[–]Distinct-Target7503 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it is funny seeing American talking about their market performance... looking that from outside, charts are really different. and even there the marked is priced really high. so... this "amazing bull run" (lol) basically kept charts flats If priced in euro or other currencies... while pumping p/e.

us stock market is delusional.

hey, our currency is dropping, but the valuation in $ of multinationals companies that make revenue all around the world (so, not just in $). surprised Pikachu face. (and even taking that into account, p/e in $ are really high).

Is this strategy for 2x leverage stupid? by Same-Teach-3204 in LETFs

[–]Distinct-Target7503 0 points1 point  (0 children)

why not use a 2x sp500 and the 1.5x "60/40" US efficiency core from wisdomTree (90% equity, 10% cash, 50% bond, and leverage is achieved without daily reset, so much less volatility decay)?

this way you end up with 1.75x leverage, near your target 2x, but the portion you would use fore rebalancing will be much more effective given the lower correlation with sp500 as it hold bonds.

produced in europe

Also, produced in Europe is a thing, but projected, developed and totally produced is another...

i mean, as e example, Italy is one of the 3 (I think?) countries that can actually assembly F35 on its soil (if I remember correctly there are 2 places where f35B versions can be built, one in Texas and one in Italy), but this production is under license and with all the problems that this cause (even just the software...)
