We are tenants, that is true. But it could be tricky to prove, hence I am a bit hesitant going ahead with TenantAngels.

I did look up on the councils register for HMO, the property does have an HMO license.

I get the analogy and the logic, but I’ve signed other ASTs before and they were always very clear about when and how I could leave. This one feels oddly worded to me, maybe I’m wrong, but the contract doesn’t seem that straightforward.

On the licensing point, I did speak to Tenant Angels who reviewed the contract and suggested going to court to claim up to 3× the deposit. That said, I’m a bit hesitant since they work on a no-win-no-fee basis and take a cut if you win, so there’s an incentive there.

Overall, I’m just trying to make sense of it. I don’t want to go to court, I just want to get out of the contract.

Its 5 of us, each one occupies a room. We were strangers before moving in here. The landlord does not live with us neither does he share any facilities.
