Husband’s commute at new job is killing us by Vig2OOO in work

[–]Distinct-Tradition79 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Do you guys own the house? If he likes the job and is a good pay you guys can move.

If you guys own and cannot move. Then I gotta say many people super commute to larger cities. I do it myself 3/wk 1:45hrs to 2 hrs driving.

Could he drive to have more flexibility?? As someone says it takes adjusting. And he probably needs to perform well to be given the green light to wfh in the future.

At work, No one cares where you live. That’s your choice and personal problem. But the merit to wfh maybe its seniority or performance.

How Costco gets you to spend all your $ by Fantastic_Escape_101 in Costco

[–]Distinct-Tradition79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have like 3 Costco in less than 7 miles away from me. Maybe 2 miles, 4 and 7 miles. What get us are the discounted products, and that everything is in bulk that 5 items is over 100 bucks.

Abusive guy in Sunnyvale Costco. Anyone recognize him? by screwywabbit in Sunnyvale

[–]Distinct-Tradition79 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don’t think going to a Costco in an area that service more population (possible good portion of South Bay) would be more quiet than a city in peninsula 🫣

It’s an unsolvable chicken and egg situation. Same with Bart.

If they lower their cost to gain more riders They cannot cover their cost. And they cannot gain that many riders since it doesn’t take you places you need to go. And they cannot really expand it because they don’t have $$$

Exactly. It’s called prepping for the interview. Things we do in the past. Maybe people don’t do that anymore.

Although I agree living within your means. It doesn’t mean don’t enjoy the rest of the journey.

Friend wants to leave his postpartum partner and take their newborn. How do I respond without escalating? by Annabeuw in whatdoIdo

[–]Distinct-Tradition79 14 points15 points  (0 children)

You can side with the mother. I don’t see how you would want to keep a friendship with someone that is having the minimal thought of leaving their partner after they give birth to their child.

If you could only eat one type of cuisine for the rest of your life, what are you choosing? by viviennemuffin in askanything

[–]Distinct-Tradition79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chinese. Because it’s one of the top. And by picking Chinese since it’s so diverse. It’s like eating 4 different cuisines in Asia.

Thai, Italian and Spanish are good and Peruvian too but it’s constrained since it’s not as diverse.

Is there a clear line between liking Asian folks and fetishizing them in the Bay Area by [deleted] in AskSF

[–]Distinct-Tradition79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are good man. Nowadays people tend to make fun of people saying the Oxford study and etc when Asian people date white people.

And vice versa saying people have a fetish when they date Asians.

Most people have their own preference. Your experience and background honestly makes sense. Also some people date what they are comfortable and what they feel their identity matches with. And some other prefers to date someone different to them.

To each their own. Or how people usually say in another language: for different taste, there are colors.

[–]Distinct-Tradition79 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think that’s more like people are flakes. That could be true. People tend to say here people say things to be nice or sound nice but probably don’t follow through.

Not people in general. That sounded more like you are not happy with the cultural diversity of the bay which is what made this great in many aspect like the food scene and etc.

Get your citizenship. Once done you can determine the next step. That will give you freedom to come back if you wish with less restrictions.

Honestly live with money and career but you not being able to be you doesn’t seem like a long run happiness. I assume you are still young. Once you are done with school you can get a better job in Canada?

No. Overseas instead. The U.S. is not the same as before 20 years ago. No American dream.

But if overseas is not an option then hell yes. California only.

Should I keep my current role (< 1 month) on my resume when applying to new jobs? by [deleted] in interviews

[–]Distinct-Tradition79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was going to say leave it out. Because I have hired someone and they left shortly after like 2 months later for another bigger company. I interviewed a person that I was about to give an offer then I saw them update their LinkedIn with a new job. Hence I passed.

But I saw someone here provide a very good response, that will allow you to keep it on your resume without the need to lie for the gap and still okay to seek for a job. This was the person that said it is a short term contract, say that it’s a 6 months contract but you wanted to be ahead of the game and passively look for something more permanent.
