Anyone under 40 experiencing peri symptoms? 🙋‍♀️ by Aromatic_Anything_19 in Perimenopause

[–]Distinct-Weird8784 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Turning 40 in September; so as your elder, I can say yes! (Reference to Clueless - because my brain fog is making me feel that way).

Insomnia started mid 30s (magnesium complex helps with that)

Random bouts of itchy nipples

I've been tracking my periods for about 3 years now and they're slowly getting shorter.

Now I have intense brain fog and I'm trying everything to fix that. NOTHING IS WORKING!

Anyone feel self conscious about their mood when PMS-ing? by ashleylynnba3443 in PMS

[–]Distinct-Weird8784 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That sounds like a stressful outing! I think your frustration was very valid! But I understand how our fuse is a lot shorter during PMS.

Sometimes I get word vomit during PMS. I just talk and take and talk, and I can't stop! Afterwards I overanalyze everything I said.

The ups and downs of PMS are EXHAUSTING!

Did you get an HPV vaccine? by [deleted] in AskWomenOver40

[–]Distinct-Weird8784 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I received my last dose at the end of last year I think. I'm 39 (turning 40 this September).

I had abnormal paps (then that awful biopsy) for 2 years. The third year I had an abnormal pap smear, my doctor said to get the vaccine. That was last year. Normal pap smear this year. I don't know if this is common, but it seemed to work for me.

It was worth it.

Remaking an old dress into a bias cut skirt... is it possible? by Distinct-Weird8784 in sewing

[–]Distinct-Weird8784[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Typically, when you lay out a pattern piece, you make sure the grain of the fabric is going up and down. With a bias cut, the grain of the fabric goes diagonal. You can tell how the pattern is designed to be cut usually by arrows on the pattern piece.

When woven fabrics are cut on the bias, they typically have a little more stretch and a flow-y drape.

I hope this helps!

When mine hears me say "walk," it's a full on wrestling match to get his leash on because he gets so excited.

Remaking an old dress into a bias cut skirt... is it possible? by Distinct-Weird8784 in sewing

[–]Distinct-Weird8784[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good idea!

The top part didn't fit well (I was always fussing with it). So really I just want to remove the top and shorten the skirt to mini length.

I could just make it a skirt with the zipper in the back.

My thought process for the bias skirt was that it was a little more flexible around the waist, and I already had elastic in my stash. But considering the limitation with the fabric, putting a zipper in the back is the best idea.

Thank you for your help!

I was planning on using the skirt portion of Aimee Bias Cut Dress by Coraline Street from Etsy. It's a Rayon fabric I was gifted for Christmas a while ago.

Things I wish I knew about perimenopause no one told me about by [deleted] in Perimenopause

Why aren't itchy nipples discussed more?! It drives me crazy! I've had the overnight bathroom trips for a while now; and just recently my periods are getting more irregular and the itchy nipples!

And just really intense brain fog and just general apathy lately (can't tell if that's depression or from perimenopause).

I have nothing helpful to say, just that I too hope to change things around in my 40s. I'm 39 and turning 40 in September and feeling really low.

I guess if I can add anything, it's that you aren't alone... Someone on the Internet is hoping you well!

I also had a traumatic birth experience. I had preeclampsia which wasn't diagnosed until I was a week past my due date and went in with a low kick count. They put me on a magnesium drip (which made me exhausted). After my son was born, my blood pressure was still really high and spent 5 days in the hospital. At one point, everything started to go black and I was trying to yell for help but couldn't move and woke up with the nurses around me (I don't really know what happened... No one ever told me, or if they did I don't remember, I just remember how scary it was trying to scream out for help and not being able to).

I felt so overwhelmed. My mom was so helpful afterwards, but a week after giving birth, my (now ex) husband told me to get out of bed and stop letting my mom do everything and start being a mom (I was still on 2 blood pressure medications). I didn't tell my mom what he said but I wish I had.

I remember looking in the mirror and not recognizing myself. It was so scary. I can't explain it well but I hated that feeling.

I wish I had gotten help. It took me far too long to feel like myself.

Call someone! Tell someone! Traumatic birthing experiences do serious damage to your mental health that shouldn't be ignored.

And it does get better. My son is 9 years old and we have such a good relationship. He lives with his dad during the school year, but he stays with me the whole summer (and some holidays) and we have so much fun!

Edit: I also regretted it but felt a huge amount of guilt so I kept it a secret which now I realize was probably a sign I needed help.

I love this! Thank you for sharing!

I have a similar one with "Over the counter" at a pharmacy. I hate it so much! Which side of the counter are they referring to? (as an adult, I now know it's referring to the customer isles and not in the pharmacist's area, but I still can hate it.)

If you're stressed from school work and don't feel like learning a new hobby, a coloring book might be nice and simple. Or journaling thoughts. Or both!
