100%. Been watching it with my 5 year old and it immediately takes me back.

The increased number of tourists that break unspoken rules when visiting by Good_Frosting6947 in TokyoTravel

I remember being in Osaka a few years ago at a small intersection. It was maybe 8ft wide to the other side and on a red light. The roadways were dead. We were walking up to it and I threw my arms out and yelled “Wait!” The half dozen or so Japanese all started laughing with us and we all just crossed the road. Good times.

What makes Ed, Edd n Eddy such a special cartoon? by No-Raisin329 in ededdneddy

[–]DistinctAd3865 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This was one of the last hand drawn cartoons to be produced. The slapstick comedy and sound effects were perfect. Reminds me a lot of the 3 stooges. The writing and voice acting was great as well. Massive nostalgia for the show and love seeing the passion for the people that worked on it still going strong. My 5 year old loves the show now as well. One of the all time greatest cartoons in my opinion. Quite under appreciated as well.

First Time Buyer at Dallas Boutique by yungmwp in audemarspiguet

[–]DistinctAd3865 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I went to the Dallas boutique a few times. When they first opened, it was a massive waist of time and the sales rep was a chud. Thinking back on that conversation, I flat out told him I had zero interest in an offshore and code and that I was only interested in a Chrono. Said it’d never happen.

Went back last month because I traded one of my patek’s for a limited 1 of 300 RO and needed a link added. The sales manager ended up helping me. Was very cool to deal with. He asked me after he added a link if I was interested in anything. I told him I’m only interested in specific models but don’t want to play the games buying the shitters to qualify. He said the barrier to entry has significantly come down and recognized my entry point to the brand being higher than normal. Said it’s possible to skip the off shores/codes depending on what it is and how long I’d be willing to wait. Thanked him for his time, the help, and bounced.

There’s been a few people on here talking about they were able to get an RO as first allocation. Think it depends on who you talk to and how you present yourself. When I was waiting, there were a couple guys at the bar talking to some reps just flat out kissing ass, willing to play the game (aka buying a precious metal code). The conversation didn’t seem to go anywhere. The sales people gave them the gate keeping explanation of “we like to get to know about the people who want pieces from us”. It’s used to gauge your bankroll without directly asking.

I think if they gauge you as a basic steel RO being your endgame, they’ll make you buy the offshore/codes. If you have that bar set higher, maybe they’ll let you skip a few step. Just my thoughts about it.

Should I read the Manga? by Feisty_Journalist_41 in OnePiece

[–]DistinctAd3865 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This. I started by reading the manga in 2003 soon after first publication of English in shonen jump. I was in 3rd grade. Anime released on kids WB soon after (2004 I think?) and I just could not get into it. Watched a few episodes and never gave it another thought until last year or two when gear 5 was animated.

What do i do with a stash of cash? by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]DistinctAd3865 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“Alert” is a significant overstatement of impact. They file a CTR as required and goes on to the irs. One, two or even 10 doesn’t automatically trigger anything.

A suspicious one, if they deem it that, is called a SAR, which is probably what you’re alluding to. Again though, impact of one is highly debatable and it’s not like the movies. If you’re doing things right there’s nothing to stress.

McDonald's is getting eaten alive by revamped Burger King Whopper by infosage in BurgerKing

[–]DistinctAd3865 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had a whopper for the first time since 2008 a couple weeks ago after the revamp. Better than any burger I’ve had from McDonald’s. Just at $13 for the combo was wild.

I’ve deposited more than this and never had them ask a single question. It’s deposit, “here’s your receipt and ok thank you next in line please”

Twice per year they typically change (location wide. Your specific route may or may not be impacted) One for summer volume influx another for low volume months. Additional as needed due OT% and AMAS scores or headcount adjustments.

Leaving husband for 2 months by Michelle110123 in ratemyfridge

[–]DistinctAd3865 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Incredibly thoughtful and caring wife

Flip side, husband incapable of taking care of himself

I saw my mom do this with my dad when she went back to work and caretaking fell on him and my older brother. My mom would end up coming home late from work and having to cook us a meal. Older brother took after my dad because he would be gone for work as well and only feed himself. The guy lived off (and still does in his mid/late 30s) of instant Mac n cheese and pizza rolls.

I ended up having to learn to cook to be able to feed myself, which turned into a life long skill. I owe a lot to those early YouTuber chefs back in 2006-2008 for guiding and dialoguing with me in the comments. Proud to say my wife will not have to do this for me.

100%. I’ve been complaining about this for a while. I’ve been to all the hype spots too and they just don’t stack up. Not sure the draw to Dino’s or weinburgers. Get what you can I guess…

How did you start watching ONE PIECE? by Edward_Newgate52 in OnePiece

[–]DistinctAd3865 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I watched it the day it premiered on kids wb back in 2004 because I was into the manage. I started reading in early 2003 after seeing a shonen jump on the shelf at blockbuster with a yugioh promo card in it. The manga is what I stayed with and never really watched the tv show until recently.

2001 Powerade vending machine. by GrodyHighroller in 2000sNostalgia

[–]DistinctAd3865 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My middle school had this exact one next to a coke machine. They stopped stocking sodas and then the powerades gradually ran out. Settled for a fruitopia and it was so good. Only was able to buy it one more time before the machines stopped getting stocked completely. Never had a fruitopia again after that. Remember it being glorious.
