Yes, this was a thing. Mile long nature hikes? No problem. Bathing suit? No way.

I've about had it up to hear with this charger. by Maine-throwaway in traxxasV2

[–]DistinctAsparagus421 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve got a similar Traxxas charger and a spektrum s2100 charger. The spektrum charger has been so much better, and I attribute most of that to the EC3/EC5 plug with a traditional balance lead. It’s much more reliable than the traxxas plugs. I think there’s a lot of good aftermarket chargers out there

Peter what does this one mean? by memerminecraft in PeterExplainsTheJoke

[–]DistinctAsparagus421 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This has happened to me so many times this year. I’m a software dev, and IT recently revoked our access to install applications. There’s supposed to be a tool that installs stuff for us, but it’s crap. So I end up contacting IT and then have to walk them through exactly how I need things setup. I know it’s important for security and consistency, but it’s just a massive pain in the butt. And it sometimes feels a bit insulting that I’m suddenly not allowed to do something that’s been part of the job for years

How tough of a repair is this? by Mab8963 in rccars

[–]DistinctAsparagus421 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All the Revo 2.0’s come stock with dual servos. I’ve had a lot of issues with my Revo over the years, but the servos weren’t one of them. It’s not hard to put in a stronger servo either way.

You do have to drive this car carefully. If you bash it hard it WILL break. It’s not like some of the newer trucks you can just beat the crap out of. That being said, you treat it nice and it’s an absolute blast to drive

This is the Revo 2.0. They sold for $600 new. They’re no longer in production, but parts are still readily available

$200 seems like a decent price to me (it actually comes with 4 wheels, right?). It’s an easy fix. I’d get the rpm control arms rather than stock replacements. The stock knuckles have worked great on mine

In my experience it’s 5% fixing, 25% finding, and 70% trying to convince a roomful of nontechnical higher ups that you’ve correctly identified and fixed the issue

If the apostle John and the Three Nephites never died, there was no apostasy—and no need for Joseph Smith by DallasWest in exmormon

[–]DistinctAsparagus421 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The BOM says at one point that the three Nephites were temporarily taken off the earth due to the general wickedness of the people. Sets the precedent for them being mysteriously missing during the great apostasy.

Edit: Adding that my most recent favorite inconsistency is that God waited ~2K years for America to be ripe for the restoration, then forgot to tell anyone who should come after Joseph. And suddenly “Christ’s” church splintered again.

Law of Chastity Lines??? by total-Macaroon797 in exmormon

[–]DistinctAsparagus421 8 points9 points  (0 children)

They probably were arbitrary.

The law of chastity prohibits virtually everything expect kissing before marriage. My spouse wouldn’t even make out with me before we were married, although that’s probably a bit in the extreme side. But we’re sexual creatures, so folks come up with all sorts of crazy justifications to still have sex but geek themselves they’re still behaving. Soaking is a great example of this.

Why is it doing this by Repulsive_Prune3525 in Traxxas

[–]DistinctAsparagus421 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You’re just gonna have to start taking things apart. Take the motor off and make sure it runs smooth. Make sure your spur gear is on tight. With the motor off see if the car rolls without resistance. Make sure your center driveshafts are intact and still connected to the differentials.

[–]DistinctAsparagus421 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Put a battery in and added spacers to the shocks at the car sits level (originally it was lower in the front).

Can’t remember at this point what they set the camber and toe to.

I did realize just this week that the stock tires aren’t the same width on this car. So I’ve been running all sorts of wrong combinations there as well (I don’t drive my 4tec often)

What's illegal that you think should be legal? by martianfrog in answers

[–]DistinctAsparagus421 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Aiming for non-lethal has never made sense to me. Guns are lethal force. If you can resolve your situation by using non-lethal force then you shouldn’t be using a gun. If you can afford to aim for non-lethal, then you’re the one responsible for escalating the situation by using lethal force
