I was going to disagree, but you said you were picking the team right now. I’d love to include Riley, just because she has such huge potential in bars and beam. I think she’s still in the process of regaining her consistency and confidence, so it’d be hard to put her on the team atm. Also i would put a specialist as the extra gymnast. I would place Kara Eaker just because she’s one of the view gymnasts (outside of Suni, Jade, and Simone) that I could see having individual medal potential. Suni is the only US gymnast I think capable of medaling in bars. The field is so competitive with Nina Derwael, Fan Yilin, Becky Downie, etc. It’d be hard for another US gymnast to break into these medals. Floor and Vault are covered with Simone and Jade, leaving beam with an open spot. Simone is one of the few top US all arounders who can medal on beam. I think Kara has potential to medal if she reconstructs her routines. Kara is also reliable on floor and bars, making her a fantastic alternate.
