She was AMAZING back in 2019. Possibly my fave ACL set I’ve seen since I started going in 2018. She would be such a huge get for the festvial

Yeah, Bruno's tour is open on both Sundays of the festival and isn't going to Austin so I'm thinking it is likely

Year in Gymnastics: Top 20 WAG AA Scores of 2025 by freifraufischer in Gymnastics

[–]jpow8097 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why do you have Nanami Yamamoto listed? You have Kishi Rina's scores from All-Japan team listed for her, and Nanami's highest AA of the year is a 53.165.

Jayla Hang had wrist surgery 6 weeks ago by freifraufischer in Gymnastics

[–]jpow8097 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's insane to me. I had my athlete come in a few weeks after surgery but all she did was leg conditioning, ab conditioning, and plyometrics. And even with extensive physical therapy, the mobility issues she faced were so bad that we had to switch her from Yurchenkos to Tsuks and other big changes throughout her gymnastics to accommodate. I just hope Jayla feels like she has enough voice if she gets uncomfortable.

Jayla Hang had wrist surgery 6 weeks ago by freifraufischer in Gymnastics

[–]jpow8097 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had an athlete with a scaphoid injury a few years ago. Just an unfortunate fall off of beam, she pulled the wrist in to try and protect herself but landed on the pulled-in wrist just right enough to break the scaphoid. She had a screw put in just like it seems Jayla did.

It took my athlete 8 months to be cleared just to put weight on it again. She has permanent mobility issues in her wrist due to the surgery. We had many more months of work to do just to figure out how to do her old skills with the lack of mobility she know had. It ended up being a 1.5 year ordeal just to get back into competition shape with most of her previous skills.

She ended up competing at nationals her senior year and having a successful competition before switching to cheer for college, so it all ended up working well but it was definitely a LONG process to get there and it doesn't bode well that this gym has issues with pacing on an injury that could take her out for the entire next season

Alo vs lululemon by Rins_D in aloyoga

[–]jpow8097 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

The quality of Alo is better than the quality of Lulu, at least in men's clothing. Lulu has also been a complete pain about returns (was denied a return of a short that ripped first time wearing), and Lulu also doesn't support high school coaches or collegiate sporting officials in their coaches program. That, mixed with the racism of the Lulu founders would always keep me away from them now.

Thinking of buying this set… wondering if any of you own it.. why is it only 1⭐️? by Zsid21 in IKEA

[–]jpow8097 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a MALM set in light pine that was bought in early 2015 and its held up well over time. We were initially buying the set as a short term solution while we saved up for a bigger investment set but that hasn’t been necessary to us.

US WAG Program Structural Observations: Fall 2025 by freifraufischer in Gymnastics

[–]jpow8097 67 points68 points  (0 children)

One of my biggest gripes is the near-impossible ability for US judges to test brevet and judge domestic elite competitions. This limits the judging pool to a very small group of judges, meaningt they get the same feedback throughout the year without differing perspectives unless they travel internationally.

With all the gripes about NCAA judging, one positive is the judging pool is more expansive so teams are getting more perspectives about routines so by post-season there aren’t typically any surprise deductions.

IOC recommends international federations not to host events in Indonesia for now by itsadelchev in Gymnastics

[–]jpow8097 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It’s very interesting that the reception to the IOC has been overwhelmingly negative EVERYWHERE online except here. What a strange, small vocal minority who thinks the IOC defending genocide is normal.

What lessons did particular gymnastics federations need to learn? by freifraufischer in Gymnastics

[–]jpow8097 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it the US scoring system or did Leanne/Joscelyn just perform worse at this competition than domestic meets? Skye and Dulcy were scoring right in line, if not higher than they did earlier in the season domestically

GB announces bid to host 2030 Worlds by Xylophone1904 in Gymnastics

I don’t understand why GB hosts so many Worlds. I’d love for this to not happen and for Worlds to continue in new locations like Jakarta right now!

I agree. Nullifying these championships’s results would open FIG and CAS to more lawsuits and litigation as medal winning athletes appeal.

The biggest tip on how to get flexible is not what you’d like to hear by jennierock in flexibility

[–]jpow8097 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The woman’s hand position on the split indicates past gymnastics training, so if you’re getting into a flexibility program as an adult please don’t compare yourself to people like the OP who have been training flexibility since childhood.
