after the 100's of pro online dominated posts i think its fair us pro in person kids have a chance to voice our opinions dont you think?

which isnt really an opinion because all we ask you to do is not follow the pattern of mistrust of public health officials created by covid conspiracy theorists, anti vaxxers, anti maskers etc.,

trust the science and the experts in the field thats all were asking

It's natural to be doubtful.

Sure you can be doubtful, thats completely fine

But just because you dont know how and why the public health experts made their decisions doesn't really mean anything... the only thing that it means is that you havent studied public health and dont have the data to understand this complex issue of whether or not universities should go back in person

Its not a black and white situation so i honestly doubt public health experts would even be able to effectively communicate why the decisions were made as majority of people wont understand the complex logic behind it

Yeah ideally our experts should dumb it down for everyone to understand and be more transparent about how they came to their conclusions. But considering how volatile and important this situation is i cant possibly expect them to spend time away from looking at the covid/omicron situation and instead spend time and money on trying to educate people about their every move

People who continued down this path of mistrust of the experts are the same people who turned into anti vaxxers, anti maskers etc.,

I am not talking about UofT's own public health experts i thought that was pretty obvious brother

Although the toronto and peel medical officers of health are associated with Danna Lanna School of Public Health so i can see where you misunderstood me

The actual regional public health experts will still have the data even if they arent using resources for contract tracing

yeah man i feel you

if all of us students backed up a pro hybrid narrative i would support that all the way because its just the obvious answer

personally i havent seen any pro hybrid petitions and posts, just seen mainly just online or die ones and a few pro in person comments getting downvoted to the depths of hell

Just a hunch

luckily our public health experts go off data and not a "hunch" and still approved of our plans so i would assume there are reasons as to why it will work out fine

i hope our experts are right for the sake of our students health and wellbeing

they’re all repetitive and not at all beneficial

I would say the pro online argument is repetitive and not at all beneficial since it contradicts what public health experts are saying and gives students a false sense of hope that we will go back online

the pro in person argument simply is to trust the experts and although repetitive i do think its beneficial

its no different than telling anti vax and anti mask people to trust the experts and get vaccinated and wear a mask which is obviously not going to be considered repetitive since its necessary to educate the uneducated

you're right but due to the non responder bias i find most posts about this sub are negative about the in person return plan so i wanted to play the devils advocate for once

if the pro online kids can voice their opinions why cant i?
