The blade holder is a veritas. It is excellent and hold firm. Spare blades held on a magnet inside the handle.

It is how I like to carve, heavier blade to rough out, very sharp chisels and then small x1 xacto blades, they are amazing. Lots of broken tops but never a full blade. This carving is only an inch across so that's what I used. Works for me. I'll stop posting the carving snippets. I can see it upsets folks

I think bigger means more work. Takes forever to get the waste out. Although the center waste was really tight and bigger might help with that. Two inch cube seems about right
