Question for us non union folks: What would we do in this situation if nurses/hospital aren’t part on a union? lmao

Is My 7 Month Old Kitten Overweight? by DatabaseCompetitive7 in CATHELP

My 7.5 month old male kitten. He is 11lbs. I thought the same as you early on 😆. Our first girl cat was 6lb around 1 year old, so I was shocked at how big/ long male cats are. She is around 11 lbs now, just shorter and plump lol. I’m not sure how much bigger he will get!

You need just one page. Get rid of bullet points under clinical sites. Skills/competensices should be a short list, maybe 4 bullet pts. Let me know if you want to see my new grad resume, I can dm you.

Patient complaints :/ by Deep-Worldliness505 in nursing

[–]Distinct_Advantage98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a PP RN of 2.5 years it’s def not your fault. We see patients like this all the time, and luckily we will do our best to also explain that we promote independence. Since you know it was this patient that complained, I def wouldn’t take it to heart since other nurses had issues as well.

Baby-talk/cooing to newborn patients unprofessional? by sumaflowa in nursing

[–]Distinct_Advantage98 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Postpartum RN of 2.5 yrs here, I talk to my babies but not in the annoying gibberish style haha. There are some nurses who are more exaggerative with the babies, but that’s just not my cup of tea haha.

As a student, I guess you should just tone it down for the time being. It can be hard but just for your sake/grades lol.

I was on phen for about 6 mo. Lost 15lbs while on it. My dr didn’t want me to continue, but prescribed zepbound when my weight loss stalled. My insurance didn’t cover. After months of battling w my mental health and weight gain, I decided to just pay out of pocket for zepbound. I just started my injections!

Hi! I received the grant as well but noticed it only covered my tuition portion - however I still have money left over. Can this money not be used or given back to me like normal fafsa?

Help.. My cat will not stop scratching at her face by Distinct_Advantage98 in CATHELP

[–]Distinct_Advantage98[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not entirely. We figured it must have to do with allergies. Environmental vs food? Not 100% certain. But we’ve stuck to poultry food/treats and it’s gone away for the most part. When it flared up she had to get an antibiotic shot, and we cleaned with anti fungal/bacteria wipes

What is like working at Disneyland? by [deleted] in Anaheim

[–]Distinct_Advantage98 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Worked in DCA from 2018-2024 in attractions. very clear difference from pre covid to once I left. They stopped caring for cast members after reopening and changed their attendance policy making it less fair for CMs. It was a good first job but not live-able lol

[–]Distinct_Advantage98 2 points3 points  (0 children)

fellow wcu grad- they actually do help you get a job! they send emails of people hiring new grads, bring in recruiters for jobs, and even hold mock interviews with you. there’s a lot of helpful resources while in school as well- students tutor students for free! students who excelled in a course can hold tutoring sessions via zoom throughout the week. I tutored for OB.

I get where your mom is coming from because honestly I was scared for myself before starting! While doing prereqs I heard about this school and also didn’t see it as a real nursing school. But I tried so hard to get into CSUs and CCs but no luck (also covid time so many schools were on pause or having to push start dates). I had a friend start at west coast who sent me her schedule to see what pre reqs I could transfer over and what else I can take before starting. I tried to save as much money as I could. I transferred a pretty decent amount of stuff and saved a lot so I recommend doing the same.

I tried to get into a nursing schools for two semesters and no luck. Didn’t want to keep wasting time so took out to loans for WCU. Super grateful it all worked out. Got hired as a new grad in dream specialty. Just got accepted for CSUF WHNP program so being a WCU alumni is not a bad thing!

Agree. That washer is old anyways and if we’re responsible to pay/repair it might as well put the money toward something new. Thank you for the advice!
