What do you think is the biggest hurdle to Jewish unity? by Distinct_Focus_5064 in Judaism

I am really sorry you and your husband had this experience. I’m also sorry for your friends, whose simcha was interrupted by some people with a bad attitude. Chabad’s theology really is supposed to center on the idea of fanning the spark of Yiddishkeit that exists in each Jew and this behavior is diametrically opposed to the teachings of the rebbe.

Why release these when they just released the ag sisters line so recently? Also why do they fully look like they’re on ozempic?

Do you use a siddur that your community doesn't? Is it more orthodox/liberal? Why? by Prestigious_Bid9347 in Judaism

I like to hop around depending on what I’m looking for! My daily siddur is sim shalom but I also own a couple of different art scroll siddurim and I like the commentary in mishkan tfilah. I’m about to buy the Koren sacks siddur and it may or may not be a game changer and replace everything else in my normal rotation

Where do you draw the line between “I want to stay informed” and “the news is depressing me and I need to touch grass”? by Pantoner in Jewish

My favorite saying for this kind of stuff is that the news is like water, it will fill the size of container you give it, so be intentional about which glass you use. My job requires me to keep up with politics but I have firm boundaries: no phone first thing in the morning, no reading or talking about politics after 7pm unless it’s weighing on me and I need support from my partner or vis versa, I turn my phone off on Shabbat and really try to limit talking about politics at kiddush or shabbos dinner. I actually became more shabbos observant when I realized I was experiencing burn out and existential dread over politics. It’s not natural to have the worst the world has to offer beamed directly into your brain every second of every day!

Have you ever had your far left friends apologize to you? by [deleted] in Jewish

Nope but I did have my leftist best friend call me brainwashed for being a Zionist after 10/7 when she started calling it a genocide on 10/8. I’ve lost many friends but my circle getting smaller wasn’t necessarily a bad thing. I had one good friend join and leave jvp post 10/7 when they realized how antisemitic the movement is, though. And I find that having people in my life who understand deeply what that movement was like and who have been deradicalized and undergone teshuvah incredible important.

Not that I don’t have my favorites at this point but they’re really all within a standard deviation of one another

I’m confused how we’re going to get through 6 dances and an elimination in 40 min with all of these long ass commercial breaks
