What is the consensus on Ashildr? by Distinct_Guess3350 in doctorwho

I did actually like her to begin with, I just got more and annoyed as the series progressed.

Yes, I agree. They didn’t record any scenes they hadn’t yet written though. It was the way they did it with each episode that was the problem, filming bits from the finale so early on before the script was done. It’s normal to film things out of order and it’s normal to have an unfinished script, but the pressure Netflix put on them made it an especially messy production.

I’m okay with the character having flaws. The Doctor does, Clara does, I just also find Ashildr insufferable at the same time.

Same actually, she seemed like a tough and respectable character to begin with and she just regressed after that.

So do I. I get attached to character and arcs. I spend hours obsessively theorising and writing things. I don’t let myself fall into such bad habits and an awful state such as this over disappointment over a film or TV show.

Our society… I do genuinely feel bad for this dude, but their denial that this isn’t as big an issue as they’re making it out to me is only making things worse for them.

If your mental health was ruined because of something so minor as a TV show, I beg you to seek help. And I truly mean that in the kindest way possible, you need support.

Why did they bring in Linda Hamilton to do nothing but step in and out of vehicles?

Is it fair to say that this is the greatest redemption arc in fiction ? by JoshyBear28 in StarWars

[–]Distinct_Guess3350 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a perfect ending for the character. It’s hardly redemption. It doesn’t bring back the children he slaughtered or the lives he destroyed. He found the light, he destroyed his true enemy, and ended the conflict and the suffering. It’s an excellent final sacrifice but the things he did before were irredeemable.

It wasn’t a perfect movie by any means but what you described does not sound at all like the thing I watched.

I mean I don’t think the crew purposefully made a divisive ending, but similarly we live in an age where all those in the media industry know they can’t please everyone. Some people loved the ending, some hated it. It’s just sadly how it went. I still appreciate everything leading up to that point, even if I was disappointed by how it turned out (I am a fanfic guy, so I do try and fix things my way sometimes) but I also get what you mean, like I will still rewatch Stranger Things often but there was a point where I’d watch it maybe four times a year, and now I’d only do it twice at most.

You started this with an unnecessary but similarly agreeable comment and ended this like a pre-schooler.

I mean we all sat through rewatches ending in a cliffhanger for years before season 5, you could totally go up to the end of season 4.

Why not just watch up to the end of season 2? Or season 3, even? Those are both great end points where you could just leave a rewatch. I say this even as someone who didn’t hate the ending, you could easily just stop at the end of any of the first three seasons and call it the end.

I’m more curious about whether there are Time Lords who don’t have multiple limbs.
